Theme: New Vision

In the modern world technologies are booming but the future is still unclear. Despite the dominance of fearful discussions on the scarcity of natural resources - the main asset that our future depends on is the Vision.
What we mean by New Vision is the ability of people and of each person to find something new and to get surprised and changed by that.
New can be something that has neverbeen seen before but now became visible through new knowledge and technologies. Or it can be another type of new - something that has already been there in our sight but we had to change our point of view to make it visible. We want to talk about technologies, science, art, social issues - anything can be discussed at TEDxSkolkovo if it's seen with the New Vision.

AES+F

One of the most successful Russian art groups founded in 1987. The group name refers to initials of constant group members – Tatiana Armasova, Leo Evzovich and Eugene Svyatsky. In 1995 photographer Vladimir Fridkes joined the group. The woks of AES+F include: installations, photography, videos, sculptures and etc. For the past years AES+F works were displayed multiple times in the best world museums from Tokio to Paris and from Sydney to New York.

Victor Zhivov

Doctor of philological sciences, professor. Deputy Director, Institute of Russian language n/a V.V. Vinogradov, Russian Academy of Sciences. Victor is also professor of Slavic languages and literature of Californian University Berkley. Victor worked on structural typology of languages and phonology. Area of scientific interests - history of Russian literature language, role of Christian Slavic traditions at different stages of development, and history of Russian culture of Middle Ages and early New Ages, history of Russian Church and Russian Literature (Middle Ages and 18th century).

Alexander Kaplan

Professor, D.Sc. (psychophysiology and psychopharmacology), Ph.D. (neurophysiology). Head of the Laboratory for Neurophysiology and Neuro-Computer Interfaces. In 2003, he received Russian Government Science and Technology Prize (the top governmental science award).

Konstantin Severinov

Professor, Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, head of Waksman laboratory at Rutgers University (USA). Head of laboratory for regulation of gene expression of mobile prokaryotic organisms, Institute of molecular genetics, Russian Academy of Sciences and Institute of gene biology, Russian Academy of Sciences. Konstantin graduated in 1990 from Moscow State University, Department for Biology, specialization Biochemistry. In 1993 he defended his master’s thesis and moved to USA, where he worked at Columbia and Rockefeller Universities and founded his own laboratory in University of Rutgers in 1997. In 2005 Konstantin partly moved back to Russia and in 2006 defended his PhD thesis. Konstantin is the author of 190 articles and international scientific magazines, owns 6 patents in USA. Works as a professor of Skolkovo Institute for Science and Technology.

Sergei Kuzmin

Sergei Kuzmin is vice president, Business Development for Bazelevs. As a new media business development executive, Sergei created one of the first visual effects studios in Russia. He has media strategy and development experience working for NBC Universal, Comcast and 20th Century Fox. He has an MBA in entertainment and media management from the University of California in Los Angeles.

Alexander Manotskov

Сopmposer, author of instrumental pieces, vocal cycles, choir music and operas. Among Alexander’s last opera works – Gvidon at School of Dramatic Arts, Moscow, Golden Mask prize for best experimental staging, Haugtussa, Stavanger (Norway) 2011, The Four Quartets (Waterfod, USA - Moscow), 2012. Alexander composed a number of music pieces to performances in leading theatres of Russia and Europe, cinema films (winner of Tariverdiev prize for best cinema music at Kinotavr festival in 2011 and 2012). He also works as a director, teacher, author of educational courses and master-classes in Russia and abroad.

Maxim Avdeev

Freelance photograper, photojournalist. His works were published in The New Republic, Guardian, Newsweek, Das magazine, Le Monde and Forbes.

Ivan Sobolev

Ivan Sobolev is a developer of The Selenokhod (“Moon Walker”) the Russian moon rover competing for the Google Lunar X PRIZE. The Selenokhod. Sobolev works at Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center, Moscow-based producer of spacecraft and space-launch systems, including the Proton and Rokot rockets.

Anna Bitova

Founder and Director of Medical Education Center – one of Russia’s first organizations directed to helping children and adolescents with learning disabilities. Since 1989 Anna is in charge of Center’s activities helping thousands of families of children with development disorders. Anna is involved in implementing educational programs and internships for professionals of specialized organizations in multiple regions, initiating founding of similar organizations throughout Russia, leading scientific research, publishing and human rights activities.

Vasiliy Barkhatov

Russian theatre director, he staged more than 10 operas, including performances at Bolshoi and Mariinskom Theatres. Vasily also tried himself in staging drama, cinema and TV production.
