A student contest
From February to September 2010, we will host a student contest on Education, Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the 21st Century: we target students from different fields of study who possess the necessary vision and passion to implement a pattern breaking change in the way of thinking and doing entrepreneurship, education and innovation. After a several-month selection process conducted by TEDx Paris Universités and TEDx PARIS, 6 candidates will have the opportunity to be a speaker at TEDx Paris Universités on October 16th, 2010.
A TEDx event with student and professional talks
On October 16th, 2010, a full day TEDx Paris Universités event will be organized. As the event’s name suggests (“Universités” meaning “schools” or “universities”), the idea behind it is to gather Parisian students, professors and practitioners from all fields around a cross-disciplinary reflection. Although we have retained innovation as a main theme for this conference, we aim to give a voice to individuals with the most diversified backgrounds, such as science, art, literature, philosophy, fashion, engineering and sociology. They will be able to give their own insights on the business world and the way to change it. Over one day, 18 speakers (12 professionals - 6 students running for the contest’s final) will each take a 12-minute slot to give the talk of their life in front of a 350-person audience. On the model of the TED Prize, the 6 finalist students will go on stage and make “One Wish to Change our Way of Thinking Education, Being an Entrepreneur and Doing Innovation”.
Professionals and competing students will go on stage alternatively, each student being evaluated by a jury composed of 5 remarkable individuals (we would be honored that a TED representative be President of the jury). In the end of the event, the best student will be awarded a ticket for TED Active 2011 and the other finalists will be awarded other prizes related to TED, which we would discuss with you.
A TEDx event with a TEDx Lab
In addition to these talks and the student contest’s final, a TEDx Lab will be set out for attendees to try out new software, gadgets, technologies and products related to education. During two one-hour-and-a-half breaks – one in the morning and one in the afternoon –, this will be the moment when attendees become actors. Located in a dedicated area around the conference room, the TEDx Lab will gather new technology firms, start-ups, and University laboratories. Organized around 6 new technology experiences that will transform our society, the TEDx Lab will be the place where participants interact around new technologies
