TEDGlobal 2012 explores the idea of Radical Openness. The world is becoming increasingly interconnected and open -- radically open -- manifesting itself in open borders, open culture, open-source, open data, open science, open minds -- an open world that breeds transparency, authenticity, creativity and collaboration. And also -- the loss of privacy -- an openness that carries its own set of perils and promises.
All bets are off as to what openness and collaboration in an ultra-connected world will mean for human potential. Traditional top-down models of organization no longer reflect reality. Social capital and influence are becoming stronger currencies than hierarchy and formal power. We now have new, collaborative ways of creating meaning, and we’re making changes at breakneck speed. Only one thing appears certain: secrecy is no longer bankable. Impact is. The future will be built on great ideas, and for that, great ideas need to circulate freely, broadly and openly.
TEDxAustin is pleased to host a simulcast of the entire second day of TEDGlobal 2012 taking place in Edinburgh, Scotland. And what better place to do so than the extraordinary facilities of the Texas Advanced Computing Center's Visualization Lab at the University of Texas at Austin -- where the world goes when it needs to look at BIG data! The Vislab houses Stallion, the world's highest resolution tiled-display which supports exploration of visualizations at an extremely high level of detail and quality. TED speakers have never looked and sounded so brilliant!
Each session is limited to 50 seats, so register now. You must register for each individual session that you'd like to attend. Make sure to be there at least 15 minutes before your session. You don't want to miss something this inspiring (and yep, we did say it's FREE!).
