In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, I’m excited to welcome you to TEDxYouth@WBS, the sixth edition of our TEDx event here at Welham Boys’ School. My name is Divij Gupta, and as a Grade 12 student and the curator of this evening, it’s been an incredibly meaningful journey putting this event together.

On May 7, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:45 pm, our Activity Centre will turn into a space filled with stories, questions, and conversations that matter. TEDx has always been about exploring ideas that challenge the ordinary, and this year, we’ve invited people whose work and lives do exactly that.

You’ll meet speakers who’ve restored forgotten ponds, made space science accessible, brought learning to the visually impaired, and used theatre and journalism to connect with people in powerful ways. These aren’t just inspiring stories—they’re reminders that change often starts with a question, a small step, or even just the courage to care.

What I’ve hoped to do with this year’s TEDxYouth@WBS is create something that feels real and rooted. Not overly polished. Not just motivational. But honest. We all need that kind of honesty—whether we’re wondering what comes after school, trying to figure out where we stand in the world, or just looking for something that feels true.

So as you listen today, I encourage you to find the moments that stay with you. The ones that make you pause, think, or even disagree. Because that’s where ideas start growing.

Academic Head at Starscapes

Amitabh Pandey, an esteemed astronomy educator and science communicator, has played a pivotal role in integrating space science into Indian school education. As the ex-founder of SPACE, he has dedicated his career to making astronomy accessible and engaging for students and enthusiasts alike. A prolific writer, educator, and media speaker, he has served as an advisor to the Bihar state government since 2012, contributing to the development of an Astronomy Centre at ancient Aryabhata observatory sites. His contributions to science education have earned him widespread recognition, including accolades for his efforts in popularizing astronomy. Currently, he serves as the Mentor and Academic Head at Starscapes, India's first private observatory chain, where he continues to inspire curiosity and exploration of the cosmos.

Bhaskar Indrakanti

Founder & Director at Orange Owl

Bhaskar Indrakanti is an educator, entrepreneur, theatre artist, and TEDx speaker based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He is the Founder and Director of Orange Owl, an organization dedicated to personal and professional development. With a background in English Literature and Psychology, Bhaskar has previously served as a lecturer at the Institute for Excellence in Higher Education (IEHE) Bhopal and held positions in marketing communications at Praxair India Pvt Ltd and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. His diverse experiences contribute to his holistic approach to education and personal growth.

Ramveer Tanwar

Ramveer Tanwar, affectionately known as the 'Pond Man of India,' is a dedicated environmentalist and water conservationist. Holding a BTech degree, he transitioned from engineering to focus on revitalizing India's water bodies. Through his organization, Say Earth, and the 'Jal Chaupal' campaign, Ramveer has successfully restored approximately 80 ponds across multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, and Karnataka. His innovative approach and unwavering commitment have earned him accolades such as the Karmaveer Chakra Award (2019) and recognition from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Ramveer's inspiring journey exemplifies the profound impact of individual initiative on environmental preservation.

Sayeed Ansari

Sayeed Ansari, a distinguished journalist and news anchor, has significantly influenced Indian media over a career spanning more than two decades. He began his journey in 1997 with Doordarshan as a news anchor, radio jockey, and translator. He later contributed to Sahara Samay and Star News, anchoring prime-time shows like "Star Report" and "Insaaf Ka Taraazu." Since 2012, Sayeed has been with Aaj Tak, India's leading Hindi news channel, where he hosts prominent programs such as "10 Tak" and "Vishesh." His excellence in journalism has been recognized with several accolades, including the ENBA Best Anchor Award and the Narad Award.

Undeterred, she founded the Jyothirgamaya Foundation in 2012, a non-profit organization that empowers visually impaired individuals through life skills training. Fluent in multiple languages, Tiffany's innovative approach includes a mobile school for the blind, ensuring education reaches those unable to attend traditional institutions. Her dedication has earned her numerous accolades, including the National Award for Best Role Model from the President of India and the Nari Shakti Puraskar, the highest civilian honor for women in India. Tiffany's relentless advocacy continues to inspire and transform lives, promoting inclusivity and accessibility for all.
