In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ana Luiza Tucci

Student
Ana Luiza is 17 years old and is in the 2nd year of High School. She was born in São Paulo and raised by two women, her mother and her grandmother. With a lot of encouragement to always go after everything she wishes for, Ana has become a curious girl with a passion for acquiring diverse knowledge, especially about social issues. She has always been very outspoken in her opinions and has always been eager to step forward in debates. Another structural basis for Ana’s academic development is her time as a student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro, which has always encouraged her to develop her full potential as a student and as a person.

Cícero da Costa Soares

Cícero, a 16-year-old student, has been passionate about technology since childhood. Over the years, this passion has only grown, and now, in his 2nd year of High School, he is more convinced than ever of the immense transformative power of technology. He believes that technology’s ability to change lives and create innovative solutions to everyday challenges is virtually unlimited, and that this transformation will only be possible with quality technological education, something that is still insufficient in most Brazilian schools. In this TEDx talk, Cícero will address inequality in access to technological education.

Deborah Ciriaco Rosa Ferreira

Deborah is a 16-year-old Porto student in the 2nd year of High School. Passionate about animals since childhood, she explores the impact of living with pets in her talk at TEDx Porto Seguro School. Entitled ‘The connection with pets since childhood: a refuge or an escape?’, Deborah asks how this relationship can shape emotions and experiences and considers both the benefits and challenges of this coexistence.

Eduardo Melo

Student
Eduardo is 16 years old, is in the 2nd year of High School and will talk about energy transition, how it is affecting the lives of Brazilian citizens and what the main challenges are. Since childhood, Eduardo has been fascinated by engineering and electricity, making drawings and small electrical projects in computer programs as a hobby. However, as the years went by, Eduardo became even more enchanted by the area and decided to take this hobby further, intending to study Electrical Engineering.

Geovana Paulino

Student
Geovana is 16 years old and is in the 2nd year of High School. Since the 1st year of High School, she has discovered a passion for financial education and investments, areas that inspired her to change her relationship with money. Motivated by a desire to better understand how to manage her finances, Geovana dedicated herself to learning about financial planning, economics and investment strategies. In addition to her academic career, Geovana is a young woman committed to sharing her knowledge with others. She believes that financial education is essential to achieving personal and professional freedom, and can be a powerful life-changer. In her TEDx talk, Geovana will share her personal story and the connection between financial literacy and freedom, showing how this skill can empower young people to make more conscious choices that align with their values.

Giovana, 17, has been a student at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro since 2016 and is currently in the 2nd year of High School. With a deep interest in education, Giovana decided to address this topic in a TEDx talk. Outside of her studies, her favourite hobby is dancing, which she practices with passion.

Guilherme Veiga de Oliveira

Guilherme is in the 2nd year of High School and really likes the exact sciences. From an early age, inspired by his brother and encouraged by his teachers, he developed a passion for mathematics, reflected in his academic achievements and participation in academic Olympiads. Currently, with a practical and creative approach, he explores different views on mathematics and recognises its practical applications, seeking to transform it into a gateway to infinite possibilities.

Henrique Sales de Araújo

Henrique, 17 years old, will talk about environmental education in the favelas, mainly in Paraisópolis, where he lives and faces the consequences of a lack of environmental awareness on a daily basis. He has always been interested in the environment and all that it encompasses, believing that a respectful relationship between man and nature can be a virtuous partnership. Today, he realises that where he lives, this connection does not exist and that this affects not only his quality of life, but that of everyone who lives in the favelas.

Isabelle Alves da Silva

Student
Isabelle is in the 2nd year of High School and is passionate about literature, music and dance, finding dance to be a transformative form of expression. She also faced moments of sacrifice, such as giving up hip-hop classes due to family pressure, but she remained steadfast in her journey of self-discovery, finding the strength to follow her own path and honour her interests and values. In 2022, she rediscovered her passion by taking jazz and contemporary dance classes, an experience that had a profound effect on her physical and emotional life. Through dance, Isabelle has developed confidence and a new way of communicating, sharing the message that dance is about overcoming challenges.

Kalel Guilherme Pugliese

Kalel is a 2nd year High School student who excels in foreign languages and has a keen interest in behavioural psychology. In this talk, he will share his struggles with shyness, how it has caused him to miss out on opportunities and how he manages to overcome this barrier day by day.

Laura Gonçalves de Jesus

Laura is a 16-year-old student in the 2nd year of High School who developed a passion for reading at an early age, starting with a puzzle book at age 3. Encouraged by her father and school projects, she has amassed a large collection of books and maintains a reading habit. In 9th grade, having stopped reading during the pandemic, she rediscovered herself in literature with the support of literary meetings and her parents. Her trajectory reflects the lasting impact of reading and continuous learning in her life.

Lívia Leal Moura

Student
Lívia is a 2nd-year High School student and values authentic moments, in which she can be herself, whether in a group or alone. Lívia has always liked the idea of being true to herself, even if she sometimes had to deal with comparisons and other people’s expectations. At TEDx, she will talk about this journey and advocate the search for freedom that no trend pattern can offer.

Maria Antonia Soares Hosokawa

Student
Maria Antonia, 16, has been a speed skater for 11 years and is a student of the 2nd year of High School at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro. Combining her studies and sports, she has been competing in national tournaments since 2016 and has been in the selection ranking for the Brazilian national team since 2023, representing the country in international competitions. Her talent and determination led her to win several titles: South American runner-up (15,000 m), three-time national champion, five-time national runner-up, three-time São Paulo champion, São Paulo runner-up, 2022 Let’s Roller n’ Run champion (10 km), 2023 Gru Open half-marathon champion, among others. Passionate about sports, Maria Antonia wants to contribute to the training of athletes and further encourage sports in Brazil. With a history of intense training and a lot of dedication, she carries the hope of a bright future both on and off the track.

Maria Eduarda Araujo de Barros

Maria Eduarda, 16, is a 2nd-year High School student who started therapy at age 10 to deal with anxiety. After some interruptions due to family issues and the pandemic, she returned to therapy at the age of 14, finding it an essential tool for self-knowledge and renewing her mental health. She uses her experience to dispel the negative perception many people have of therapy and will share her insights to encourage others to prioritise emotional self-care.

Rebecca Nunes de Oliveira

Rebecca is in the 2nd year of High School and is particularly passionate about landscapes and photography. Fascinated by the ability of images to tell stories and capture moments, she seeks to immortalise the beauty of the world around her through the lens of a camera. Rebecca believes that photography is more than a hobby; it is an art form that allows you to explore new perspectives and share your visions with others. She hopes to continue developing her skills and perhaps turn this passion into a career in the future

Thiago Smith

Teacher
Thiago is a High School technology teacher. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering in Rio Grande do Sul and, over the years, developed his experience in the classroom through degrees in Physics and Computer Science, with a focus on robotics, programming and design. He has experience in managing student projects and is proactive in creating prototypes of these ideas for different purposes, resulting in the presence of these products at student fairs. He aims to encourage students to be creative with their ideas and to seek technological solutions that can have a positive impact on society now and in the future. He is passionate about robots and sometimes creates flying machines as a hobby.

Vitoria Giulia Cardoso Bastos

Vitória Giulia was born on 2nd August 2007 in the city of São Paulo. She is currently in the 2nd year of High School at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro, where she stands out not only for her academic performance, but also for her participation in extracurricular activities. One of Vitória’s most enriching experiences has been her participation in the Business School course, sponsored by Bank of America. This opportunity allows her to develop valuable skills for the future and explore her interest in the business world. From a very young age, Vitória has had a deep passion for football. She stood out in the sport with her talent and dedication. Throughout her journey, however, she faced barriers that challenged her to persevere and fight for her dreams in sports. With a promising future ahead, Vitória continues to dedicate herself to her studies and football, always seeking new challenges and experiences to help her develop as a citizen and a professional.

Yasmin Victoria Santos de Santana

Yasmin, 16, is in her second year of high school and dreams of a healthcare career. From a young age, she showed an interest in caring for others, leading her to reflect deeply on her aspirations. Volunteering at a hospital was crucial in her self-discovery journey. By following the treatment of children, she understood the importance of care and empathy in healthcare. This experience reinforced her desire to help those in need and highlighted that a profession must align with personal values. Yasmin believes true success goes beyond social expectations and should reflect one’s authenticity and passions. In her talk, she will stress the importance of exploring options, questioning choices, and finding a meaningful path. By encouraging other young people to go through this process, she believes everyone can discover their purpose. The search for a career isn’t just about external goals but about cultivating a profession that brings fulfillment and happiness.
