In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anna Strozek

Psycho-Nutritionist, Emotional Eating Coach
Anna Strozek is a certified Psycho-Nutritionist and emotional eating expert helping clients transform challenging relationships with food, including emotional eating, overeating, and binge eating. She transitioned from a decade-long career in corporate finance to focus on coaching under her brand, Feed Your Body Not Your Mind, after graduating as a Psycho-Nutritionist in January 2022. Having personally overcome 25 years of secret eating, binge eating disorder and body dysmorphia, she uses her lived experience, professional expertise, and practical approach to create supportive coaching environments and online courses that promote emotional and mental growth. Anna also leads corporate workshops and speaking events, where she explores the effects of nutrition, psychology, mindset, and emotional awareness on overall well-being.

Clive Foster MBE

Executive Dean EDI & Multi-Faith Manager (Nottingham Trent Uni)
Clive is the Executive Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Dean for Nottingham Trent University and Senior Minister of the Pilgrim Church, Nottingham. He brings over 20 years of leadership and organising experience across multiple sectors such as community, public sector and business. Clive is a founder member of the Nottingham Windrush Support Forum which advocates to right the wrongs of the so called Windrush Scandal and also celebrates the enormous contribution of the Windrush Generation to the UK. He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his commitment to helping victims of the Windrush Scandal in the New Years Honours List 2023. He has written for both print and digital media publications on issues of race, faith and community. Working nationally as Vice Chair of the Windrush National Organisation his talk will focus on what are the lessons we can learn from the Windrush scandal to transform social injustice.

James Kendrick

PhD Student, Nottingham Trent University
James Kendrick is a fourth-year PhD History student at Nottingham Trent University. His current research focuses on Justices of the Peace in Elizabethan Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire 1558-1603. In particular, what factors influenced whom was appointed a JP, including: wealth, education, geography, alliances, family, and religion. In the last two years he has presented at more than a dozen historical conferences around the UK, presenting papers on: Justices of the Peace, Catholic survival in Elizabethan England, and the effects of inflation on the gentry class. He had recently published an article in History Today around the controversial 1593 Nottinghamshire Election, and is currently writing articles focusing on subjects like the emotional expression of regret in the Reformation, and the importance of JPs to understanding Early Modern England.

Melanie Welaratne

Scholar activist and Educational Developer
Melanie (She/Her) is a Sri Lankan/British scholar-activist with a focus on decoloniality, positionality, and global learning within Higher Education. Melanie started exploring decoloniality in education as an Undergraduate Fine Arts student. It was the realisation that her educational experiences shifted from global praxis to Eurocentric practices that led her to start a process of discovery and self-evaluation. Her Masters research took her realisations a step further, exploring the intersections between education for social justice, decolonial education and global learning. Melanie is committed to growing her knowledge, advocacy, and research to support educators to engage in critical reflexivity, uncover existing structural barriers, and take action toward dismantling them.

Mia Forbes Pirie

International Mediator, The Conversations Coach
We can become more and more divided every day - polarised not only across ideological and political divides but also in our personal relationships and work environment. Mia is an International Mediator, Facilitator and The Conversations Coach. She has worked with governments, politicians, think tanks and NGOs from the G7 to the Government of Mongolia and the Church of England, as well as mediating commercial conflict and facilitating discussions between families to achieve better relationships. She believes that better conversations create better relationships, better outcomes and better lives. She is keen to inspire people to have them and help guide them as to how best to do that. Founder of The Conversations Coach and Co-Founder of Lares Partners and APROPOS (Advancing Process in Politics), she is also collaborating with UCL on their Disagreeing Well skills series.
