In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Briana Chen

Dr. Briana K. Chen is a postdoctoral research scientist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and subsequently received her PhD from Columbia University. Her research focuses on investigating the neural substrates underlying stress resilience, with the ultimate goal of developing sex-specific drugs for the treatment and prevention of stress-related psychiatric disorders. She has filed multiple patents and won numerous awards for her research, including a National Research Service Award from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and was recently listed on Forbes 30 Under 30: Healthcare.

Genevieve Chase

Genevieve Chase is an Eli Whitney Student at Yale University majoring in Philosophy with aspirations to pursue family law and victim advocacy. She is a combat-wounded veteran who remains a senior leader in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps. Before coming to Yale, she completed two combat tours in Afghanistan where her bravery and dedication were recognized with the Purple Heart, Combat Action Badge, and Joint Service Commendation Medal. She also worked at the senior levels of the Army as a Department of the Army Civilian, managing the U.S. Army Threat Awareness and Reporting Program. She championed repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell, women's inclusion in combat roles, and improved healthcare for women veterans. She is a Points of Light and Women of Worth honoree and Army Women's Foundation Hall of Fame inductee. She's testified before Congress twice, and was a powerful voice for women veterans on several major news networks and publications.

Grace Wethor

Grace Wethor is an award-winning director, actress, bestselling author, and brain cancer advocate/survivor. After being told she had six months to live due to an untreatable brain tumor at age 13, she moved to Los Angeles and began pursuing her dreams with full force. She gave her first TED Talk at age 15, wrote her first book at 16, spoke at the United Nations at 17, and released her first docu-series at 18. She is now a brain cancer/pediatric health legislation advocate and has made her way to the White House and Capitol Hill while spearheading bills that would bring over $100m in funding to youth healthcare.

Jay Mehta

Jay Mehta is a senior in Yale College majoring in Global Affairs. Jay used to compete in National History Day, pursuing year-long research projects and turning them into performances and in 2015, he placed first in the nation. Since then, he has told previously untold stories to audiences at the Normandy American Cemetery and the National World War II Museum. He has also written a one-act musical about Juan Pujol García, a real-life double agent from World War II. At Yale, besides conducting research, he sings in an a cappella group and acts in plays and musicals.

Molly Smith

Molly Smith is a junior in Yale College majoring in American Studies with a Spanish certificate. She also performs with Yaledancers, and works on various film projects as a writer, director, cinematographer and editor. In January 2023, she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and made the decision to share her story on social media from day one.

Nick Callegari

Nick Callegari is an MBA student at the Yale School of Management. He holds a MEng in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley and a BSE in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University. Prior to pursuing an MBA, Nick worked as a structures engineer for SpaceX's Dragon spaceflight program, helping design critical primary and interior structures for the Dragon spacecraft. Nick is currently working on a social venture, Impact3D, that aims to 3D print sustainable housing for those experiencing houselessness. As a first-generation, low-income college student from Deltona, FL, Nick hopes to use his fortunate opportunities to help others.

Subin Lee

Subin Lee actively performs in both South Korea and the United States, having appeared in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Seoul Arts Center, and Kumho Art Center. An award-winning harpist, she has won first prize at the Italy International Harp Competition, Lyon&Healy Awards, Fanny Mendelssohn International Music Competition, and Padova International Music Competition. She is also a prizewinner of Hong Kong International Harp Competition, Korea International Harp Competition, Szeged International Harp Competition, Germany International Harp Competition, and more. She is currently pursuing a masters at the Yale School of Music.
