Theme: Aspiration

IGBIS students will share their passions, aspirations and ideas worth sharing. The event is separated in 3 parts. In the first session our speakers, who are in the elementary school will present. During the 2nd part our speakers, who are in the middle school are going to presents. Lastly in the third session, our speakers who are in the high school will present.

Alex Wang

Hello, My name is Alex Wang. I am 10 years old and my birthday is on February 9th. I enjoy playing my Nintendo and making up stories. When I get bored, I like to read and collect Pokémon cards and I also like to listen to music. I like playing this online game called “ Roblox ”. It is a game where you can play millions of different games and enter various experiences for you to explore. I play the drums and am currently in grade 5 of it. I am very passionate about getting into grade 6, 7 and 8 for drumming. That's why I am trying very hard to get into grade 6 first.

This is my second year participating in TEDxl. I believe one’s life is something orientated around the choices one has made, is making and will make. Being proactive about situations brings about rapid change.

Hi guys, I am Bella Guo, a grade 10 student in Kuala Lumpur. I identify myself as an introvert who doesn’t prefer socializing but rather spend time alone on the side. However, I found it interesting to observe people‘s behavior in social events and it’s fascinating to witness the diverse ways in which people navigate various situations. This has led to my passion in understanding the relevance of authenticity in a world where societal expectations often influence our actions and perceptions of ourselves. I'm willing to share my insights and experiences on authenticity with all of you. Along the way, I hope to offer valuable tips and strategies to aid in your personal journey of self-discovery and authenticity.

Hello, my name is Clarisse and I am 10 and in grade 4. I was born in Malaysia but am half Chinese and have never moved from Malaysia. I enjoy reading because it’s like going out into an imaginary adventure and once I start it’s a bit hard to stop. Since I like to read, I have made it my TED talk topic.

Hello Everyone! My name is Emma Ooi, I’m in Grade 5 and turning 12 years old this year. I ‘m from Malaysia. My hobbies are dancing, drawing, traveling and gaming. And maybe when I grow older I'll become a dancer. Today, my TEDx talk will tell you why Dancing is good for your physical and mental health, as well as developing social skills. My talk will also focus on sharing how ANYONE CAN DANCE. I joined TEDx because I think this will help me with my speaking skills. I also want to change the stereotype of dance. This being my first time, I hope you will enjoy my TEDx talk.

Hi there, I am Gaeun, a 16th-year-old student in grade 10. One of my biggest passions is debating. From a young age, I would question the normal questions such as "why" and "how". As a teenager myself, going through the last year of my MYP journey, I understand how challenging it is to start planning the future beyond high school. I would love to share with my peers the answers that I have come up with in planning for the life ahead of us. I hope that my answer will inspire them to start dreaming about their future.

Hello. My name is Henry Ho, a Grade 11 student from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I am always curious and I let my innate curiosity take control of my life. I cannot be satisfied with not knowing enough, and one of my ways to do that is to ask lots of questions and also, debate with myself…. Well, I would often debate with myself on issues pertaining to mainly philosophical topics, for example ‘what is the right thing to do?’ and so on. I find this particularly rewarding as I always end up with new perspectives. While not on the quest for knowledge, I like listening to music, particularly to the works of the great late-Romantic composer Gustav Mahler.

I enjoy playing games on my PC and drawing when I don't know what to do, And I have 11 dogs in china. I can speak Chinese and English fluently and i’m also learning Spanish. I am passionate in art not just drawing but art in general what I chose for my TEDx is: to help others get inspired by the Art you don't have to be perfect.

Hello, my name is Nina, and I am almost 12. I was born in China and lived most of my life in Malaysia. I enjoy dancing and drawing because they allow me to freely express myself. I am currently in Grade 6 and I have studied in IGB for 7 years. This is my second year participating in TEDx at our school, and this year I want to raise awareness for gender equality because it is a problem that the world is facing and it affects me a lot. Sometimes, the world is not giving both genders equal rights and it’s not fair. I want to do something to change that.

Playing football, swimming, and basketball are some of my favorite hobbies, and I have four lovely cats as my pets. Although English is my first language, I am also learning Spanish. Hello! I’m TJ, a 16-year-old student currently in Grade 11. I am Malaysian-born and have lived here my whole life. When I’m not attempting to get a normal sleep schedule, I enjoy pursuing a multitude of hobbies, such as improving my skills in music, especially with the guitar and drums, improving my physical health, and being an active leader in my MUN club. I always love challenging what is and taking the time to ask “Why is something the way it is?” I believe that any great idea can change the world, but it needs to be put into action first. One of my favorite quotes and sort of philosophies is this: “If you spend your time chasing butterflies, they'll fly away. If you spend your time making a beautiful garden, the butterflies will come to you. and if they don't come, then you still have that beautiful garden.

Hello, my name is Xuan Rui Mi. I am currently in grade 12 studying the IB Career-related Programme. I am from China, but I have been in Malaysia for almost half of my life. I am interested in fashion and textiles design, and most things that are design and art related. I like to paint. My favorite medium is oil painting. I work with charcoal a lot too, because I like drawing still life. I am really excited to be presenting my idea in this TEDx talk.
