The word ‘mistake’ (errore, in italian language) in Italian comes from the latin verb ‘errŏr’ which means ‘wander without a specific direction’. Not knowing where we are heading can lead us to lose ourselves, thus making mistakes. If we ask a jazz player the definition of mistake, s/he will say that no such thing exists. But we do know that this is not realistic, because we are faced with mistakes since we are little at school. We fear them, we hide them, we try to avoid them, we demonize them. Then what’s the reason why we cannot accept the jazz player’s answer? Because we do not consider mistakes as part of a process of creation of something that it’s not clearly defined. For this 4th edition of TEDxPutignano we decided to explore mistakes from different points of view and bring on stage ideas that could bring the audience different perspectives and perceptions of them.
