In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Chris DeFiore

Chris DeFiore, Was Previously a high school science teacher at The Franklin School of Innovation and a Wilderness Instructor with North Carolina Outward Bound, Chris currently dedicates his time to the field of community forestry. Chris works to build systems that support community members in developing and stewarding neighborhood greenspaces including urban orchards, pollinator gardens, parks, and tree canopies. Chris sees fostering curiosity about the wonders of nature as critical to this work. Chris holds a Bachelor’s in Environmental Education from Warren Wilson College and a Masters of Forestry from the Yale School of the Environment.
