Safia Jama
Safia is passionate about communities - building them, cultivating them and safeguarding them – and received the prestigious MBE award at Windsor Castle earlier this year for her contributions. One of many awards she has received for her ongoing role in charity and welfare work. For nearly 20 years, Safia has nurtured a network and community as CEO of Women's Inclusive Team (WIT), which works to ensure that women from ethnic minorities in London live fulfilled, safe and happy lives. This includes skills training, career advice, mental health support and English language tuition. It also means providing their young people with academic support within safe and culturally appropriate youth programmes, and offering free childcare spaces.
Safia has extensive experience working with a range of stakeholders including national and local investors, the local council, local police and other charities to build communities where Black and ethnic minority women can thrive. Through cultivated experience and networking Safia contributes as an advisor, trustee and Board Director to multiple organisations in London including Tower Hamlet Homes, Metropolitan Police and recently joined Scotland Yard.
