Theme: Ripples of Thought

We are thrilled to announce TEDxWaldenPond, to be held Wednesday November 1, 2023. Our theme is "Ripples of Thought," and we will soon begin to announce our exciting roster of speakers and performers. So far we have confirmed the following topics, all from speakers in the greater Boston area: "What Babe Ruth and the Boston Red Sox Can Teach Us about Solving Global Warming." "A New Way to Effect Environmental Behavioral Change," "A Career You've Probably Never Considered," "Do Men Steal Their Best Ideas from Women?" and "What's your Relationship with Chaos?".

The town of Lincoln, where TEDxWaldenPond is situated, was founded in 1654 as part of Concord, MA. Because of a rift in the church, the town split off on its own 100 years later, in 1754. It was sometimes called Niptown in its early days, since it was composed of bits of neighboring towns in addition to Concord, "nipped" off the edges of Weston and Lexington. Henry David Thoreau's second favorite natural destination, after Walden Pond, which is half in Lincoln and half in Concord, is a woodsy area of several acres known as Mount Misery. It is situated entirely in Lincoln. Today, Lincoln has a population of just over 7,000 and is most remarkable for having large tracts of land preserved as public conservation acreage.

Gerami Groover-Flores

Music producer, educator, arts activist, scholar, entrepreneur, and Executive Director of a music and arts based non-profit organization, Gerami Groover-Flores works with youth across the city of Boston to use the music of the African diaspora as the foundation for their music education. A double alumna of Berklee College of Music, Gerami is changing how Black music is perceived in classrooms and individuals.

Jared Cox

Dr. Jared Cox is a storyteller whose experience as a pilot, dentist, and self-proclaimed perfectionist brings unique perspectives to his narratives, blending precision with creativity. Rooted in faith, his stories entertain and bring light to the world, encouraging authenticity, courage, and compassion for us all.

Lauren Chaby

Dr. Lauren Chaby is the Director of Biomarker Strategies at ALZpath, an early-stage company that has led the field in developing the most sensitive blood-based assay to detect Alzheimer’s disease in its earliest stages.

Martin Moore

Martin G. (Marty) Moore, is a former company executive, and an alumnus of Harvard Business School. He quit his CEO job in 2018, to co-found a business with his daughter, Emma. His sole purpose is to improve the quality of leaders globally.

Raj Sharma

Raj Sharma is the Head of The Sharma Group, a boutique wealth management team at Merrill Lynch Private Wealth. Raj is one of the top advisors in the country and has been ranked in the Top 100 advisors by Barron’s, Forbes and Financial Times. He is also on the Barron’s Hall of Fame. Recently Raj was recognized as one of the 100 most influential people in Boston. Raj is involved with several non profit organizations. He serves on the board of trustees of Emerson College and The Boston Foundation. He is a Founding Trustee and Director Emeritus of The American India Foundation and a former Chairman of Boston Harbor Now, an organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the Boston Harbor Islands. He is also on the board of Youth Lead, an organization devoted to cultivating youth leadership and engaging across differences. Raj recently published “ The Purposeful Wealth Advisor”, an Amazon best seller.

Rebecca Heiss

Dr. Rebecca Heiss is a stress physiologist and evolutionary biologist. She is the author of the book Instinct and lives with her husband and two spoiled rotten dogs, Guinness and Murphy.

Rick Chavez

As a partner with Oliver Wyman, he advises leaders on how to channel technology to solve complex challenges and thrive in the midst of deep and rapid change. Rick is a proud father, classical guitarist and an author in the making.
