In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ally Shen

Taiwanese Pop Idol at NextGirlz Official
Having spent most of her childhood in Germany, Ally Shen returned to Taiwan in 2017 and successfully graduated from the International Bilingual School of Hsinchu Science Park. Aspiring to become an idol, she set her sights on joining a girl group. Her journal journey into performance began in 2018 when she first participated in the Taiwanese show “Jungle Voice” and subsequently joined the girl group Per6ix. Currently she is a member of Twinkle Black , where she continues to make a lasting impact.

David Pendery

Professor at the National Taiwan University of Business
David Pendery earned his B.A. in International Relations at San Francisco State University, his M.S. in Journalism at Boston University, and Ph.D. in English literature at National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taipei. Since he moved to Taipei in 2000, he has worked as an editor, English Consultant, teacher at private and public institutions and businesses, and journalism writer. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Foreign Languages at National Taipei University of Business. Juggling both the roles of an educator and a father of one beloved daughter, he strives to pass on his knowledge to later generations, leaving a legacy to students as they find their own paths.

Lin Chih-chieh

Taiwanese politician and Law professor
Lin Chih-chieh (林志潔) is a distinguished professor at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, specializing in criminal and corporate law. A renowned academic and aspiring politician, Lin is deeply engaged in the Hsinchu community and was a leading candidate for legislator. She has previously chaired the Financial Consumption Evaluation Center and the Financial Ombudsman Institution. Lin's academic credentials include a Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) and a Master of Laws (LL.M) from Duke University, alongside a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from National Taiwan University (NTU). Lin is also admitted to the Taiwan Bar.

Ling Xiong

Founder of Ecobrick IBSH and Senior at International Bilingual School at Hsinchu Science Park
Ling has been taking on active leadership roles throughout her time as a high school student in IBSH. Her leadership approach encompasses the realms of charity, sports, and civics. She founded the Ecobrick IBSH in which she has created a system that turns non-recyclable plastics into plastic bricks that are fit for human usage, particularly in construction. In doing so she has been able to sequester 40+ kg of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and has gained recognition as a youth leader by the UN Youth Affairs office. She is also the captain of the IBSH girls basketball team, leading her team of young and skilled players across many tournaments. Finally, as the president of the school’s student council, she initiates a wide range of activities through the collaboration of students in a parliamentary setting. By doing this, she provides mechanisms for students to reach out to their school to make policies that represent them and bring them together!

Melody Huang

Social Activist
Melody is a passionate dreamer and doer, dedicated to bringing positive change to the world. Her journey began early when she organized a free haircut event for over 100 homeless people at just 15. Later, she co-founded “Girls in the Oasis” to address cigarette butt pollution, spearheading Taiwan's first-ever cigarette cleanup event, mobilizing 350 students to collect 22,000 cigarette butts and generating over 800K media views. At eighteen, Melody was selected to represent Taiwan at the United World College in South Wales, collaborating with students from over 100 nations for social change. There, she founded “United World Youth”, securing a $12,000 grant to document the life stories of over 30 youths, hosting 2 impactful human libraries and drawing an audience of 400+ individuals. As a youth social activist with incredible life experiences, Melody continues to do everything she can to increase the scale and impact of solutions for social issues.

Rikke Yeh

GLO Social Impactathon Founder
Currently a master's student at the USC Marshall School of Business in LA, California, Rikke has dedicated herself to leadership experience, particularly within the Global Leadership Organization (GLO). Taking three gap years to delve further into self-discovery, her commitment extends even further as the founder and lecturer for GLO’s Social Impactathon, a workshop inspiring high school and college students to create their own social initiatives. With immense dedication and a powerful presence as a leading figure in the GLO community in Taiwan, she has earned a reputation as a counselor, lecturer, and advisor for the annual Leadership Training Summit and Social Impactathon sponsored by GLO.
