In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ariën Kingma

My name is Ariën Kingma and I'm happy to introduce myself as a speaker on the next TEDxBreda! I studied in Eindhoven at the infamous Design Academy and trained as a product designer. At my current company I am co-responsible together with Mieke Boogert for product development, giving lectures&workshops and co-operating with our clients. (schools, universities, social work and mental healthcare organisations, but also multinational companies). What really drives me is to actively change peoples lives for the better by using our tools, skills and enthusiasm. To really see and feel that people benefit from what we do. This keeps me going always and gives me an endless amount of positive energy!

Büşra Yılmaz

I started my career by working on bioenergy using algae as an energy source, and then I found the joy in colored photovoltaic technologies. There were only seven companies in the world that used colored solar technologies when I started in this field, so I am happy to say that I am one of the frontrunners in the world. I specialized in building integrated photovoltaic technologies, and I am responsible for the technological developments and quality assurance of products in my current job. I use my expertise to apply photovoltaic technologies to daily use and create photovoltaic solutions with color and design. Bringing artistic value to photovoltaic systems is my vision. I consider myself a sustainability advocate; I like joining local climate hackathons to tackle city sustainability issues and collaborating with people to brainstorm ideas to solve them. In my free time, I like to read science fiction and fantasy novels, and my personal interests are etymology and history. I am a cinephile who likes to make abstract oil paintings of nebulas.

Dianne Vugts

I have always loved sport, with cycling as my number one. No mountains were to high, the bigger the challenge the better. Then when I was 38 years old, I had a terrible accident. That day has since been refered to as “The black day” After numerous operations and rehabilitation ther seemed to be no other choise than amputation. While I was positive, my family where struggling wit it. I was lucky enough to get a runningblade on a pilot scheme and my life was again back on track. As part of this scheme the blade was unfortunately temperary. It became clear that a sports aid was not concsidered important to the desicionmakers, and funding was not available from the goverment or healthinsurance companies. My determonation and rebellious character helped me push for my rights and I won a lawsuit witch stated that I should receive reimbursment. I was able to do that, many are not. My mission is to face the goverment and healthinsurance companies to work together, to support and fund sports people in all walks of life. Make it possible to enable the disabled

Naomi Rozalina King

Naomi King is a international visual community artist and muralist who tries to bring color to the world while creating art with all layers of society. According to her Surinamese father, Naomi King could 'draw rather than chew chicken'. She grew up to be an avid cartoon enthusiast and comic reader, with the long-running indie comic Ellfquest by American couple Wendy and Richard Pini particularly appealing to her. As a child of two cultures, she was deeply touched by how the different elf tribes in the comic faced each other, and she immersed herself completely in this world. She grew into such an expert that when she was thirteen she was asked to translate the comic strip by Belgian publisher Arboris. However, due to her young age, she was not allowed to have a job yet, so the young super fan was 'paid' in comics. She also drew comics herself, of course, and has never let that love drop. Years later, when she got an aerosol can pressed into her hands during a date, she didn't shy away from using the wall presented to her as a canvas. Working in public space felt like an ideal expression for her. “My father always says, 'Your talent is a gift.'” explains King. “And you also give a gift to someone else. Art is for everyone. If I can make other people happy with my brain farts and creations, that's a win-win.” Her influences range from art nouveau to '80s cartoons and mix in a remarkably dynamic style full of splashing color. Naomi is an all-round illustrator, making both animations and street art pieces.
