In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Carlos-Nathan Soh

Student
Born on the 29th of October, year 2008: Nathan—or Nate, is who he is referred to by many that also attend Winston Churchill HS, is currently a freshman with a passion to explore his interests and challenge his limits. He is part of a family of six where he is the oldest and has three younger sisters. Determined and driven by his goals, Nathan initiates each day with curiosity and an understanding that every sunrise will bring about something new.

Sarah Bland

Student
Sarah Bland is a junior at Winston Churchill High School. She has a keen interest in political science and hopes to become a lawyer in the future. Sarah has studied Chinese for the past 12 years and is currently in the process of writing a research paper.

Shannen Greene

Student
Shannen Greene, a Winston Churchill High School junior, is a self-published author of the psychological fiction novel “Similitude”, a freelance photographer, and a neuroscience enthusiast. Shannen wishes to educate and inspire others by speaking about what writing a book taught her about the human brain, where she discusses the importance of neuroscientific and psychological understanding in creating artistic media—specifically books.

Vicky Kaprielian

Student
Vicky, a sophomore at WCHS, is happy to have recently gotten into the art of public speaking. With a love for science and a determination to make a positive impact with her words, she's actively involved using this drive to make the world a better place. Vicky has also recently made it onto the MCR Mental Health Task Force, advocating for student’s mental health all over Montgomery County.
