Keeping old traditions alive isn't a walk in the park, especially with younger folks losing interest. But think about Asian music, especially the Chinese kind – it's been around for ages, with instruments like guqin, pipa, and erhu.
To keep oriental music known and enjoyed by Chinese Indonesians and other general public, a student activity club for oriental music namely Jiufeng was created. Jiufeng is a part of the Mandarin Language study program at Petra Christian University that facilitates students who want to study and preserve oriental music.
Recently this year, Jiufeng won a silver award in The 1st Chinese Cultural Practical Competition for Overseas Chinese Youths for folk music performances in the Young Adult category. The event was guided by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, and hosted by China News Service.

A unique rock band that has been around since 2008, Muveno has something different from other bands. For 14 years, despite undergoing 10 formation changes, Muveno still continues to work regardless of age.
The band has released 4 singles and 2 albums, the journey, itself, has been full of incredible ups and downs. The release of their debut album in 2015 was accompanied by a solo concert at XXI with crowdfunding from friends, fans, and family. Several media who were invited at that time were impressed by the success.
It doesn’t stop there, the release of the second album also took quite a long time. Due to the health needs of one of the members’ family, producing the album was also very time-consuming and tiring. But when they saw the final result, Muveno felt that the second album was a work filled with diverse explorations of their musicality.
