In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Abbie Labus

Abbie Labus is a Junior at Chatham High school. She loves baking, walking her dog, and spending time with friends and family. She stays busy working as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the YMCA during the school year and at a local community pool during the summer. Oftentimes you will find Abbie with her Aipods in listening to music of all kinds no matter what she is currently doing.

Adam Agree

Adam Agree received his BA at Montclair State University. He has been teaching Social Studies and coaching at Chatham High School since 2015. He loves sharing his variety of interests with his students in the classroom, on the athletic fields, or at various club meetings. In his spare time, Adam loves getting outside for a nice hike, playing board games with his friends, spending time at Lake George, NY with his family, and playing Dungeons and Dragons as often as he possibly can.

Alessa Cooney

Alessa Cooney is a sophomore at Chatham High School. She is on the fencing and softball teams and does taekwondo outside of school. She is an avid reader and enjoys both reading and writing poetry. She aspires to be an attorney specializing in fighting human rights abuses when she is older. Apart from practicing her different sports, Alessa loves spending time with her mother, father, older sister, Siena, and two dogs (Kaia and Tasha).

Kayla Lok

Kayla Lok is a graduating senior from Chatham High School who will be attending Boston University to study political science on a pre-law track. She enjoys volunteering in her town and is a member of Model UN where she hones her diplomacy and negotiation skills while gaining a deeper understanding of global issues. Kayla enjoys reading, listening to music, baking, going on walks, crafting, and spending quality time with her family and friends. With an open mindset and a willingness to explore new experiences, Kayla is always ready to broaden her horizons and embrace new challenges.

Margaret Apgar

Margaret Apgar is a junior at Chatham High School. She enjoys going to the beach, being outside, hanging out with friends and family, reading, and skiing. Margaret loves being in nature, especially watching sunsets, hiking with friends, sailing in the summer, and claims there is nothing like getting the first chair up the ski mountain in the morning. She also runs track in the Winter and the Spring, works at a local nursing home, and stays busy with her friends as a sailing instructor during summer.

Oliver Neumann-Loreck

Oliver Neumann-Loreck is a Junior at Chatham High School. He volunteers for the Chatham Emergency Squad every Monday as an EMT. He is also on the High school sailing team as a Skipper. In school Oliver loves history and environmental science. In his free time he goes on walks, watches or reads the news, and spends time with his friends.

Patrick Ryan

Patrick Ryan is a junior at Chatham High School. He is a leader in Play Unified and plays Buddy Baseball in the spring. Patrick volunteers at Garden Terrace Nursing Home where he enjoys interacting with the residents. He does not know what he will do for work, but he is keeping his options open. In his spare time, Patrick enjoys reading and loves school, spending time with family, studying history and politics, and following the Mets and Jets.

Shaan Modi

Shaan Modi is a Sophomore at Chatham High school. He plays soccer for the High School team as well as for a club team. He dreams of playing at a division 1 college, and even professionally. Apart from soccer, Shaan loves to hang out with friends, travel the world, and spend quality time with his family.
