Shirin Moayyad
Coffee storyteller
Shirin Moayyad has spent her life’s career in coffee. From living on and managing both a coffee farm and roasting factory in Papua New Guinea, to working as a production roaster in Singapore, to global coffee purchasing for a leading US specialty coffee company, and most recently working with Nespresso, she has covered most aspects of the industry.
Today, Shirin splits her time between her own micro roastery, Sweet Bean Coffee, and her role as Coffee Storyteller for Nespresso. This juxtapositioning of worlds allows her to satisfy a need to find meaning and purpose in her work. In her words: "Coffee allows me to work with what I consider to be the most intoxicatingly delicious beverage there is, but also to work in a socially responsible way, to do what I consider to be right. To work with a market mover like Nespresso, however, offers me the rare privilege of ensuring a valuable contribution for the world of coffee at scale.”
