Theme: What is the Future?

This year's TEDxPSUT will be very different from prior conferences; we'll make a big effort to expose a lot of health and technology sectors as well as potential future industries. There will also be a section on science fiction that's based on keeping up with technological advancement.
The conference for this year will take place on March 18, 2023, at Princess Sumaya University for Technology's Friendship Auditorium. What is the Future? is the TEDxPSUT theme! We'll get the answers to that and other questions from invited speakers. Is the future currently? Or what will change and what will occur in the future? What advances are coming in AI and medicine? Where will modern technology lead us? The topic will be discussed by speakers from the academic, medical, technological, and industrial sectors, as well as by intellectuals from various backgrounds and spheres of life.

Ahmad Obaidat is a startup mentor in Newchip Accelerator, one of the biggest accelerators in the world. His goal in Newchip is to provide the entrepreneurs and innovators working in the fourth industrial revolution fields with technical support through an integrated journey from idea to product. He is also a consultant for many global companies such as Avertra Corp, Beyond Limits and STC.

Amal Al Sadi

Founder & CTO, Amal provided technical direction across the company in areas of Software architectures, and information security. With more than 20 years hands-on skills and expertise in Telecommunications, Mobile Software Development and Software-as-a-Service delivery using the cloud. And experienced in different business areas to drive innovation and strategic positioning, and supports business development activities, with technical support in product concept development, customer relations, and proposal activities.

Baha Hussein

The Royal Film Commission - Jordan

Baha is an M.F.A degree holder in Film Editing & Directing from the Red Sea Institute for Cinematic Arts (an affiliation with the University of Southern California for Cinematic Arts) and a B.F.A degree in Cinema & TV Directing from the Higher Cinema Institute in Egypt. Baha has great passion for cinema and storytelling. Besides his work as the Regional Training Manager at the Royal Film Commission – Jordan, he is also a Film Editor and Director. He has edited feature films, short films, documentaries, and TV shows and series. He is constantly seeking ways to support other emerging filmmakers to find their voices and the right tools to tell their stories in the best possible way.

Dr. Ashraf M. A. Ahmad

Dr. Ashraf Ahmad is currently the dean of computing sciences college at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT). He has authored several scientific publications including journal papers, conference papers, and books. Dr. Ahmad has won the American Challenge Cup in Jordan for his invention of a border security device.

Dr. Ibrahim Albluwi

Associate Professor of Computer Science, PSUT

Dr. Ibrahim is an assistant professor of Computer Science at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (Amman, Jordan). His research interests are in the field of computer science education. He is mainly interested in improving our understanding of how to best teach and assess programming, algorithms, data structures and problem solving.

Dr. Yara Oweis

Assistant Professor School of Dentistry - University of Jordan

Yara grew up in Amman, Jordan where she received a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Jordan. She then joined the University of Manchester, UK as an MSc student in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics. After obtaining her degree, Yara returned to Jordan to work as a full-time lecturer at The Faculty of Dentistry, University of Jordan for nine years. In 2015, Yara joined Professor Faleh Tamimi’s and Professor Marta Cerruti’s groups as a PhD student. Her research focuses on controlling the surface chemical properties of dental materials and teeth to enhance their performance. This includes surface chemical modification of alloys used in dental prosthesis to enhance their adhesion to composite resin, controlling the surface hardness and the optical properties of teeth and dental restorations to enhance appearance and durability. After obtaining her PHD, Yara returned to Jordan and was promoted to assistant Professor at the school of Dentistry, University of Jordan.

Eng. Belal Hafnawi

Belal Al-Hafnawi is an ICT Executive experienced in Management, leadership, regulatory and strategy. He is currently working as a Commissioner/Full time Board Member in Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC). He has (20) years of intensive experience in technology, telecommunications, information technology and digital transformation. He worked with several international mobile network vendors and service providers (Huawei, Motorola, Nokia and Samsung Electronics and STC). He has wide work experience in various telecommunications fields, which included management, technical and consulting experience, managing complex programs/projects and operations management. He has completed an executive track in Management and Leadership of technology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)/United States focused on Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Business Implications and Platform Strategies. He is a technical writer, an author and an international speaker.

He studied medical electronics in Bulgaria and business management at INSEAD. In 1984, after working in Orlando, Florida, he founded a high-street computer store in Jordan modeled on Radio Shack.
