In 1902, my great-grandmother left her small village in Calabria to move to New York in pursuit of a dream. Like thousands of other families, my own arrived in America with empty hands, except for their memories, skills, and culture; they opened restaurants and made themselves known through food.
The Association for the Integration of Women is dedicated to providing newcomers to Modena, and many other cities, the same opportunity.
The migrant women of Modena have a story to tell. We hope to open our doors and create a space where these stories can be narrated, to discover, to grow, to bear witness to how new members of the Modenese community can take root and flourish.

Presidente dell’Associazione Àlàáfíà, che ha come obiettivo la divulgazione delle filosofie tradizionali africane e afrodiasporiche. Iniziato al Candomblé Ketu, tradizione spirituale afrobrasiliana di matrice Yorùbá.
