However, through his experience, he not only developed a better grasp of Bulgarian, but also learned the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge such as language and culture. Nina Al Rifai is 38 years old; she was born in Syria. She started her journey as a Special Olympics athlete there, and after moving to Bulgaria she continued her involvement with Special Olympics in the Bulgarian Team. She is a talanted and passionate photographer; her Damascus photograph collection is definitely worth checking out. Besides swimming, which she competes in, she also greatly enjoys basketball and horse riding.
