TEDxYouth is an annual tradition at the American International School Vietnam (AISVN) where we bring the brilliant ideas, inspirations, and experiences of our local guest speakers from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to a global audience! As aspiring critical global citizens, all of our speakers have taken the general theme of "Love Will Find A Way" to share how their individual passions have shaped their worldviews. This TEDxYouth @ AISVN event therefore aims to spark meaningful conversations among a global audience about how our individual passions can create community growth and to also demonstrate how our personal hopes and dreams can inspire others to develop as their best selves. We hope you enjoy our TEDxYouth event!

Elsa Trinh

Grade 9 AISVN Student
Hi, My name is Elsa (Trịnh Nam Anh) and I am currently a freshman studying at AISVN. Ever since I first watched a Ted Talk, I have always hoped that one day I’ll be able to inspire others with my own experiences. Hence, I decided to become a speaker at this year’s TEDx event and discuss how codependency can destroy a person’s self love. Wanting approval and people pleasing is natural for humans, but what happens when it escalates to a toxic level? Through my own story and research, I will go over toxic people pleasing and its causes, consequences and solutions.

Harry Nguyen

Grade 10 AISVN Student
Hi, my name is Harry and I’m currently studying Grade 10 at American International School Vietnam. I signed up to become a speaker this year because I wanted to face my fear of public speaking but most importantly, to show appreciation to those who have helped me on my journey to becoming who I am today. That is why my topic will revolve around showing gratitude to everything in life, whether little or big.

Huy Nguyen

Lawrence S.Ting School Student
My name is Huy, I am a student interested in art and design. I want to tell the world about how much I love art! When a student from my school joined a previous TEDxYouth@AISVN event passionately about his topic, I was motivated to do the same and I hope to inspire others too. The topic I will bring to this year's event is how art can become your 'soulmate' and a tool to use to make our life more meaningful.

Ivy Pham

Ho Chi Minh City Open University Student
My name is Pham Tu Trinh (Ivy). Two years ago, I joined the TEDx program as an audience member and had a desire to be a speaker once in my life. With the spirit of “Ideas worth spreading”, I have chosen the TEDxYouth@AISVN stage to share my story as I end my 4-year studies at university. It is the acknowledgement that modern relationship issues are concerning for all of us, especially from my youth perspective. Through my observations and experiences of meeting people from around the world, my talk will focus on the way people think, feel, and treat relationships in a 21st century world.

Jessica Tran

Grade 12 AISVN Student
My name is Jessica. I was a curator for one of the speakers at last year's TEDxYouth@AISVN event. The moment I listened to her talk and sharing her speech with me, I was clearly inspired. As this is my final year of high school, a new chapter in life is near, closing this long memorable chapter behind. I thought I might connect this upcoming transformation by allowing myself to share my story in today’s TEDx event hosted by AISVN. Heraclitus once said, “the only constant in life is change”. It’s clear that everything in life is prone to change, but understanding how to adapt to these changes to achieve self contentment is eternal. In light of this, my talk will discuss how a 6 letter word, “change”, can contain substantial depth and significance in our daily lives.

Kylie Pham

Grade 12 AISVN Student
My name’s Kylie, a Senior and one of the speakers at this year’s TedxYouth event. I’ve never had much experience with public speaking before, so I thought it would be good to join this event as a way to cultivate this skill. Since I’ll study Psychology major for university, my topic will be about how we should care more about psychology and the treatment of mental diseases for adults and teenagers. I hope that this talk will help raise awareness among the audience about the significance of these overlooked domains in our everyday lives.

Rashi Gupta

Grade 11 AISVN Student
I wanted to be a speaker in the TEDxYouth@AISVN platform because I believe it is a great opportunity for me to face my stage fear to talk about something that is really important to me that I wanted to share. I also want to become a better public speaker because it will help me in all aspects of the future, especially when I’m able to share something that is important to me. My topic is about body positivity. This is a very important topic because I have dealt with this issue for a very long time and at the same time I’m starting to accept myself more. I feel like this issue is relevant to many teenagers and women around the world, so by sharing it I will be able to remind myself about body positivity as well as anyone else that deals with it.
