In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alice Molinsky

High School Student

Alice Molinsky is a senior at Beaver Country Day and from Newton, MA. Throughout high school, Alice has spent much of her time thinking about how personal identity is seen through a religious context, and how she has built hers from the "ground up." In the classroom, Alice is interested in social and health sciences and plans to study anthropology next year.

Caroline Ewald

High School Student

Caroline Ewald is a junior at Beaver Country Day School and it is her first year there. She is passionate about psychology and mental health recovery. Outside of school, Caroline loves to spend time with her friends and family, do volunteer work, paint, and write.

Erika Charles

Beaver Country Day Front Office Coordinator

Erika Charles is the Front Office Coordinator at Beaver Country Day School. Since moving from her hometown of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Erika has spent time working in places where she can directly help people grow, learn and strive, through exchange programs, immigration or in schools. Outside of Beaver, she enjoys baking, reading and spending time with her husband and their 2.5 year old son.

John Weltman

President and Founder at at Circle Surrogacy

John Weltman graduated from Beaver in 1970 in the first class of boys. He went on to Yale, Oxford and the University of Virginia from which he got his BA, MA and JD. John has practiced law as a commercial litigator in Boston for the last 39 years, during which time he has been on the Boards of Beaver, Cambridge School of Weston Boston Children’s Theatre and the Society for Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy. John met his husband Cliff in 1982 and they married in a Unitarian Church in 1988, had a civil union in Vermont in 2002 and got married in Massachusetts in 2004. They were the first gay couple to each have a child through the same surrogate mother in America. Their boys are now 27 and 29, the older a Brown graduate and engineer with a high speed internet service provider and the younger a PhD student in Paleontology. John started Circle Surrogacy, which is now the largest surrogate parenting agency in the world in 1995, three months after the birth of his younger son.

Kevin Rohn

Middle School Science Teacher

Kevin Rohn is a middle school science teacher at Beaver Country Day School and a National Geographic Certified Educator with over 12 years of teaching experience. An accomplished hiker and long distance backpacker, he has summited all 67 4,000 foot mountains in New England, including New Hampshire's 48 in winter, walked a Camino de Santiago in Spain, hiked the W-Trek in Chilean Patagonia, and recently completed a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2022. Deeply committed to mindfulness, Kevin practices meditation during these outdoor pursuits and feels immense gratitude for the transformative and healing powers of nature.

Melinda Ching

High School Math Teacher

Melinda Ching is an Upper School math teacher and a Dean at Beaver Country Day School. She is originally from San Diego, CA and moved to Boston for college. This is her 4th year at Beaver. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, and gardening.

Tamarra James-Todd

Mark and Catherine Winkler Associate Professor of Environmental Reproductive Epidemiology at Harvard

Dr. Tamarra James-Todd is an associate professor at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, directing the Environmental Reproductive Justice Lab. She directs the Community Engagement Core for the Harvard MEMCARE Superfund Research Center and is the Deputy Director for the Harvard Chan NIEHS P30 Center. Her research focuses on identifying, designing, and implementing solution-oriented studies to reduce environmental injustice and reproductive health disparities. She founded the Beauty + Justice podcast covering issues of environmental injustice in consumer product ingredients and their impact on health. She's served on national committees, including the EPA and the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. Originally from Kansas City, MO, Dr. James-Todd received her bachelor's from Vanderbilt University, Masters of Public Health from Boston University, and PhD in epidemiology from Columbia University. She enjoys hiking with her family and listening to audiobooks.
