In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Aabidah Afzal

Aabidah Afzal is a senior and serves as one of the senior co-chairs of the Shaker Student Government, and she enjoys listening to music, cooking, and hanging out with her friends.

Darren Duan

Darren Duan is a senior and one of the event managers on the TEDx team. He plays piano for the Shaker Jazz Ensemble and programs on the Robotics team. Darren spends most of his time reading anything he finds lying around.

Kamellia Barrett

Kamellia Barrett is a senior and Speech Director for TEDx. She is a big believer in the power of words, written or otherwise (and given the chance, will rant about the awesomeness of words and spend time analyzing her favorite pieces of work). She enjoys reading, writing, listening to music, watching anime, knitting and crocheting, and singing her heart out.

Milena Gharakeshishyan

Milena Gharakeshishyan is an exchange student from Armenia and a senior at Shaker. Already a high school graduate in Armenia, Milena will study Business at the American University of Armenia following her time at Shaker. She loves dealing with numbers, statistics and accounting.

Oliver Aiossa

Oliver Aiossa is a freshman and a glossary of historical knowledge, from the Japanese Edo period, to the French Revolution, and everything in between. He is a certified Colonie Youth Court Member, starred in Shaker’s fall play, Almost Maine, and a member of NAHS.

Roshan Mehta

Roshan Mehta is a senior and designer for TEDxShakerHS. Roshan leads the Media Team on the school newspaper, and participates in science bowl, math club, and the varsity tennis team. In his spare time, he enjoys drawing, teaching tennis, and most of all, sleeping in.
