Theme: Abundance in Action

Our TEDxTarsusAmericanCollege event is all about celebrating the power of "Abundance in Action". We believe that the world is full of abundance and that it is up to us to harness that abundance and put it into action to create positive change in our lives, our communities, and our world.

Our incredible lineup of speakers will share their stories of abundance in action, and inspire you to do the same. They will explore how abundance can be found in unexpected places, and how we can use that abundance to make a real difference in the world.

You will hear from experts in a variety of fields, including business, technology, science, and sports, who have each harnessed the power of abundance to create meaningful change. They will share their insights, experiences, and strategies for cultivating abundance in your own life, and for putting that abundance into action.

Whether you are an entrepreneur, a creative thinker, a social activist, or just someone who wants to make a difference, our event will inspire you to take action and make a positive impact in the world.

Asya Yılmaz

Student

Asya Yılmaz was born in Germany in 2005 and moved to Turkey with her family before starting elementary school. She completed her middle school studies in İzmir and became a dorm student for her high school studies at Tarsus American College. She finds passion in helping the environment and has cooperated with ‘Fresh Air for Adana’ and ‘Green Movement’. She aspires to become a leader in the pharma industry and enjoys being involved with biology and chemistry. Her paper on oncolytic viruses and cancer has been accepted for publishment in the International Journal of High School Research. She mostly lives in Tarsus even though her family and her lovely cat are back in İzmir.

Mert Gedik

Young Entrepreneur

Born in 2003, Mert was a successful science high school student studying in one of Turkey's leading high schools. However, while in high school, he realized that the road to his dreams did not pass through schools and started exporting from Turkey to North American countries at the age of 14. Gaining momentum in a short time by doing e-commerce and e-export abroad, Mert owned 3 different companies in the US and Turkey by the time he was 17. At the age of 17, he introduced himself to hundreds of thousands of people with an interview on a channel where he was a guest. Mert started sharing his achievements on social media at a young age and inspired hundreds of people in a short time. Mert, who is now 19 years old, manages 4 companies in Turkey and abroad with new initiatives in the software and e-commerce sectors and continues to produce content on social media in order to be useful to his peers.

Sadık Gençoğlan

General Manager

A graduate of TAC class of 2003, Sadık Gençoğlan completed his undergraduate studies in economics at Harvard University. He started his professional career at Oliver Wyman, one of the world’s leading management consulting firms and worked there between 2007- 2021. Specializing in the area of Financial Services, he has served as a consultant on strategy, performance management, risk management and transformation with several leading financial institutions of Europe, America, Africa, and Turkey. Between 2009 and 2014, he worked at Oliver Wyman London and then with the Istanbul office, receiving the title of partner in 2018. In the beginning of 2022, he joined the senior executive team of Getir Perakende ve Lojistik A.Ş., a decacorn company based in Turkey, as Chief Efficiency Officer. Gençoğlan leads projects which enhance productivity in seven European countries where Getir currently serves. In addition to his current role, he is the general manager of Getir in Spain and Portugal.

Şerife Aksoy

Holistic Chef

Şerife Aksoy was born in Anamur and completed her primary, secondary and high school education in Istanbul. She received her university education at Hacettepe Faculty of Education. After working as a primary school teacher for six years, she completed the cooking and pastry programs at Le Cordon Bleu in Istanbul and received a Grand Diploma. In 2014, she completed the Horticulture program with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and received her gardener certificate. Having an interest in sustainable and restorative agriculture, Aksoy completed her training as a permaculture designer in 2017. She received her beekeeping certificate in 2019. She presented the program "Life with Şerife" on the Bein Gurme channel and started to organize cooking workshops called "A Day with Şerife". In 2020 and 2021, she received training in Biodynamic Agriculture, Agrohomeopathy and Medicinal Aromatic Plant Cultivation. She continues to learn and share her knowledge with others in her field.

Sinan Güler

Social Entrepreneur & Former Basketball Player

Sinan was born in 1983 and started playing basketball following his brother’s & father’s footsteps. Sinan played his first professional match at the age of 17. He then went to the US for his education, and earned an athletic scholarship from Salt Lake Community College. After 2 years in SLCC, he moved on to Carroll College to continue to play basketball and major in Business. In 2006, he started playing professionally for Darussafaka. In the following years, he played for Besiktas, Anadolu Efes for five seasons, Galatasaray for four seasons, Fenerbahce for two seasons, and two seasons with Darussafaka before his retirement. He played over 500 games in Turkish League games, 10 seasons in the Euroleague. In 2016 with Galatasaray, he was the team captain that won the Eurocup. He was part of the Turkish National Team from 2008 to 2018, and in 2010 he was in the team which won the silver medal in the World Cup in Turkey. Now, he’s interested in Social Entrepreneurship & Angel Investing.
