In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alanur Heper

Alanur was born in Bursa, Turkey in 2007. She is currently studying at TED Bursa College within the IB programme. She is also a part of AP Calculus BC classes and can speak English and French (A2). She is interested in the fields of chemistry and engineering, particularly in the area of sustainability. She has recently prepared a scientific research paper on nanoparticle synthesis using an alternative method. One of her favourite hobbies is playing tennis which she has been playing for over 8 years.

Arda Irmak

Born in 2006, Arda Irmak is an 11th grade IB student at TED Bursa College. Despite his decision of becoming a pharmacist in the future, particularly after commencing the IB programme, he is also interested in human sciences such as psychology and sociology. Therefore, he wants to explore more in areas such as communication, human relations and personal growth in order to have a better understanding of the world.

Defne Gacal

Born in 2006, Defne Gacal is a student at TED Bursa College. She has always been into arts and has a great interest in music. She plays the piano and aims to study for a degree in music in the future, in which she hopes to continue studying music and teach it. She hopes to spread music and keep the cultural aspects of Turkish music alive.

Kerem Bayramic

Kerem Bayramiç is 15 years old, from Bursa, and can speak English B2-C1 level. He is interested in swimming, waterball, art etc. and has a swimming degree in Bursa. He enjoys listening to music and can draw pictures well, it is his best hobby. Currently, he is studying at Data College Aviation High School. Since childhood, he has always been interested in aviation, which is why he wanted to come this school. He is very happy at the school because he was able to chase his dream.

M. Sinan Pala

M. Sinan Pala was born and raised in Bursa, Türkiye. He studied and played football in the USA for 8 years. Since returning to Turkey, he has been involved with football and wrote the first book about scouting in Turkish.

Sinan Yirmibesoglu

Sınan first attended Beykoz Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Anatolian Maritime High School He graduated from KTU Sürmene Faculty of Marine Sciences, Department of Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering as an honor student. He studied at the Polish Maritime Academy with the ERASMUS program and studied sea ice in the Baltic Sea. He completed his master's degree at ITU Maritime Faculty with his study on "Sea Ice Observation in Antarctica" by participating in the First Turkish National Antarctic Science Expedition in 2017. He has also trained at the Korea Polar Research Institute and worked with satellite data at KOPRI Polar Data Center. He took part in scientific-administrative studies within the scope of polar research of Turkey for more than three years at ITU Polar Research Center. In the Second, Third and Fourth National Antarctic Science Expeditions, he served as the Istanbul-based team support coordination. In 2019, he took part as a researcher in the First National Arctic Scientific Expedition and published a children's book about the expedition. He has worked as a research assistant at ITU Maritime Faculty for two years, has been working as an institutional communication representative as a researcher at TUBITAK MAM Polar Research Institute since 2020, and continues his doctoral education in the field of polar studies at ITU.

Tara Tiregul

Tara is a senior at Ted Bursa College. She completed the International Baccalaureate program where she was the first student among my classmates to receive high level classes in Visual Arts. She took this as an opportunity to explore themes of social justice and identity through art. Based on my past experience with visual arts, She likes to focus on the positive effect of art on personal well-being and growth.
