Markus Hans-Peter Müller, born in South Westphalia, studied economics and sinology at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster. A varied subsequent career included working for Allianz Life Insurance in Shanghai before he joined Deutsche Bank as executive assistant to the former chief economist professor Dr. Norbert Walter. He has held several government advisory and teaching roles (ranging from Frankfurt to Tashkent) and has also managed to publish several well-received books.
