On Thursday, November 18 from 4:00-6:30 in Wyatt Hall, the four Bellarmine Honors seniors completing this semester will present their final projects. We’ll have the opportunity to hear from Chloe Powell, who traveled to the Dominican Republic and Kenya to learn about how microlending and group savings programs can empower communities and individuals across the globe; Zenia Nava, who investigated the mathematics behind GPS technology; Nathan Mayer, who conducted nanoscience /nanotechnology research as part of an internship through the Department of Energy at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee; and Kenny Kelley, who received a highly competitive Portz Interdisciplinary Fellowship through the National Collegiate Honors Council to fund an interdisciplinary art project that draws on their experience working with individuals in substance use recovery. Presentations will be followed by a reception in the McGrath Gallery, where attendees will have the chance to chat with presenters and experience Kenny’s art installation.

Chloe Powell

Honors Student
I am a communications major at Bellarmine University, graduating in December. I am on the women's cross country and track team and am involved in Bellarmine Christian Fellowship and club soccer. My passions include poverty, student ministry, and apologetics. My plan after graduation is to work for an international nonprofit that fights poverty in developing countries through an empowering and holistic approach.

Kenny Kelley

Honors Student
Kenny Kelley is a double major in Clinical Psychology and Visual Art with an emphasis in painting. Kelley is a recipient of the Joe and Angela Schmidt award from Bellarmine University as well as a recipient of the Portz Interdisciplinary Fellowship from the National Collegiate Honors Council. Post graduation, Kelley is interested in obtaining their Master's degree in Art Therapy in addition to continuing their artistic career by producing and selling original works of art. With art therapy, they want to specialize in substance use rehabilitation and, potentially, incarcerated populations. In their thesis work, Kelley tells the story of those who experience stigma due to struggling with substance use disorder through the use of a solo art exhibit, featuring installations and sculptures created by Kelley as well as curated artwork from people in recovery for substance use disorder.
