TEDxLive is an extension of the TEDx program, launched by TED in 2010. TEDxLive events are TEDx events built around the live webcast of TED Conferences. TEDxLive events enable TED enthusiasts all over the world to experience live sessions of the TED Conference; events can be simple viewing events, and may also host live speakers.
TED granted a TEDxLive license for TED2012 to be shown as a live webcast in Yerevan. This made it possible to organize an unprecedented event at the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies, the official partner and sponsor of TEDxYerevanLive. TED followers in Armenia had a unique opportunity to virtually join the world-famous conference attendees in Long Beach California and to view talks about cutting-edge technology and amazing showcases of human creativity.
The TED Conference webcast at Tumo took place on March 3, 2012 with more than 100 participants, including students, bloggers, civil activists and NGO leaders. They came together to share the TED experience – a dozen talks from the Lab and the Earth sessions of TED2012.
The event sparked a number of blog posts from attending participants. The speakers ranged from roboticists to filmmakers and economists – each with an inspiring message. “I personally felt very energized by being part of the live streaming. It showed that life in Armenia is full of nice surprises and I felt I was not missing anything and not falling behind exciting events happening in the world!” noted TumoCenter Director Marie Lou Papazian.
The Partner of TED 2012 web streaming event is TUMO Center for Creative Technologies.
