Sassa Voulgari
She grew up in Karditsa, listening to stories from her young life at the village with her mother, along with the ancient sanctuary next to the river. She studied Psychology and collaborated with kids in various frames… Her love for fairytales made her a pioneer in Storytelling in Greece (since 1993) and created her own Method of Technical Narrative and Creative Writing. She experiments and investigates ceaselessly the contemporary transformations of the oral narrative. She never memorizes by heart the traditional stories, she says them, sings them, dances them, and creates them with everyone who listens.
For her, Communication is the essence of life. She found Truths and Light in folk tales- she suspects that these old stories lead to Science in their own way.
Since 2013 she cooperates with Theoharakis Foundation and since 2010 with Mihalis Kakogiannis Foundation, which hosts her main educational material/work. For the work she was nominated (SCBWI-Greece: 2014, 2015) for the International Award ALMA -Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award.
