In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

SonLam Nguyen x Yasmine

SonLam Nguyen was born and raised in Vietnam and moved to the United States in his early twenties. Raising self and cultural awareness by embracing acceptance and generating curiosity are the purposes of his dance work. Lam skillfully utilizes his 12 years of experience in Popping training in the Contemporary approach to create emotive movement patterns by challenging himself physically with intricate, tension and entanglement. From winning So You Think You Can Dance Vietnam season 3 to performing at Jacob’s Pillow to placing 2nd in the Nation in RedBull Dance Your Style, SonLam Nguyen continuously explores his capacity in movement expression. Yasmine Kimberly Nguyen is a Peruvian-American dancer and yoga enthusiast born in the United States. She was raised by a hardworking single mom who put her in her first lessons of ballet, tap and jazz at The Studio Art of Dance in El Segundo, California at the age of 4. Yasmine performed and later on presented a piece alongside SonLam Nguyen at the American College Dance Association Conference (ACDA) representing El Camino College for 3 consecutive years. During this time she also found her love for yoga and obtained her teacher training certificates for both Yin and Yoga Barre at Hot 8 Yoga. As her studies continued she then went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Dance at San Francisco State University where she trained in choreography and modern dance. Her dance is a combination of the breathe to movement from Yoga as well as the training she has in Horton Technique.

Dr. Nguyen Tran Phi Yen is the Partnership Director at Beowulf Blockchain and a lecturer at RMIT Vietnam. She has a diverse background that comprises the academic field, corporate work (Park Hyatt, HSBC, Savills), and start-ups (Gyla English, ZigZag Career, The Maker cafe). She has spent the past 10 years studying human capital, career development process, and start-up innovation. She soon found her passion for helping young professionals and organizations become highly competent through training. Dr. Yen was selected as the Vietnamese delegate for a range of programs such as the International Leadership Conference (United Nations, New York City, USA), Youth Cultural Exchange (India), Leadership Training (Leyte, Philippines), UNESCO Chair Forum (Cape Town, South Africa). Besides, Yen is a keynote/motivational speaker and she has come to hundreds of conferences and events to inspire and help young people build the career of their dreams
