In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Abby Hamilton

Dr. Abby Hamilton is an industrial/organizational psychologist, public speaker, and author of Speak Up, Anak: Assertiveness for Filipino Americans. She is the Director of Student Services at Everglades University in Tampa, Florida, and a Stetson University graduate. Dr. Abby speaks to audiences about how to break communication barriers in a diverse society.

Bud Hanson

Bud Hanson who is the Executive Director for Professional and Corporate Education and Associate Professor of Practice in the School of Business at Stetson University. Bud is a seasoned executive with 25+ years of branding, sales, marketing, and management experience. During this time, Bud has managed highly effective sales teams, built half a billion-dollar brands, started two of his own consulting agencies, and worked with, and for, many brands, agencies, and businesses to help them achieve their goals. In his current role he leads Stetson's professional education program aimed at helping non-degree seeking working adults learn, close skill gaps, and prepare for new opportunities. In addition, he teaches graduate marketing classes in the Stetson MBA program, has grown up in the area, holds degrees from the University of South Florida and Southern Illinois University, and currently lives in Ormond Beach.

Chris Ferguson

Dr. Chris Ferguson is a professor of psychology at Stetson University and also is a Stetson University graduate from way back in 1993. He is a clinical psychologist, licensed in Florida with an expertise in forensics and mental health assessments. His research has focused on the influence of media on mental health and behavior including violence in video games and television, thin-ideal media and body dissatisfaction, and social media effects. He currently lives in Casselberry with his wife and son.

Phuong Nguyen

Phuong Nguyen is an international student at Stetson University, majoring in Digital Arts and Communication and Media Studies. Born and raised in Vietnam while exposed to Japanese anime and manga at a young age, she has experienced a diversity of culture. During her teenage years, Phuong was very involved in fine arts, particularly painting endearing objects in life and drawing manga. At Stetson University, Phuong decided not to pursue studio arts but instead digital arts because of her growing interest in technology and feminism. Her newer works are visual and auditory installations recreating the female” experience. They aim at challenging existing society’s ideologies and biases on women.

Renee DuBois

Renee DuBois is currently the Associate Director of Fraternity & Sorority Involvement and Student Organizations at Stetson University. Originally from New England Renee decided to leave the cold and move to Texas to pursue her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Texas. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Broadcasting and Master of Education in Higher Education. Right out of graduate school Renee started working in the higher education field and since has been working with fraternity and sorority communities across the country for over 9 years.

Victoria Ramón

Student
Victoria Ramón is in her second year at Stetson and is self-defining their major through the Honors Program. She is studying Social Justice and Community Engagement with a minor in Spanish. On campus Victoria holds a variety of leadership positions, including being a Program Lead for the Peer Advisory Council on Title IX (P.A.C.T.) and the Director of Stetson Votes. She was awarded the Rising Star Award by the Wellness and Recreation department in May of 2022 and was awarded the Emerging Student Leader Award by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion in October of 2022. Although she has only been at Stetson for two years, Victoria has made an impact on campus and has solidified her role as an advocate for change, especially when it comes to supporting survivors.
