In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

David Daniels

David Daniels is a widely known and respected traditional medicine teacher throughout Canada. He is an Indigenous Elder from Dakota Long Plains and combines his knowledge in botany and the teachings passed down to him by his Elders to preserve the traditional Indigenous healing methods. He has been invited to many speaking engagements from university campuses to public policy forums and was a recent guest lecturer at the University of Winnipeg in the Indigenous Studies Department. He has MCed national chief meetings as well as the provincial chief assemblies and has 50 years experience teaching and speaking to large groups.

Larry Davey

Larry has worked in the financial services industry for more than 30 years. He has been a Chief Executive Officer of various amalgamated credit unions over the past 16 years, including Gimli Credit Union, Noventis Credit Union, and Access Credit Union. Larry has served on the Credit Union Central of Manitoba Board since 2016. During that time, he has held the positions of Chair of the Investment Committee, Chair of the Audit Committee, and presently, Vice Chair of the Board. Larry is also on the board of the HSC Foundation. He previously served on the Canadian Credit Union Association Board. Larry has completed his Graduate Degree in Business as well as his MBA through Athabasca University. Larry recently obtained his ICD.D designation through the Rotman’s School of Business University of Toronto.

Marcus Wiebe

Marcus is the founder of Dead Horse Cider Company. He is a 4th generation farmer who has pivoted from vegetable farming to cider making. Marcus along with the team at Dead Horse Cider have worked to create international award winning ciders showcasing the uniqueness of Manitoba apples, a prairie fruit that was all but forgotten and going to waste.

Rebecca Atkinson

Being from Northern Ontario, from a family that valued movement and nature, Rebecca has always spent much time out of doors. She gained insight into the cycles of life and death, joy and grief, movement and stillness there. This process of change inspired her career choice as a Physiotherapist, where the natural body could be supported to thrive. Her drive to understand human potential led to continued studies in the realms of Taiji and Qigong, Feldenkrais Method, Bobath Approach, neurological and spiritual texts on how we learn and love. She has shared her knowledge over the last 16 years in the health care system and with various groups seeking to involve themselves with their evolution, or in Rebecca’s word, to envolve. Currently, you can find Rebecca at Morden Physiotherapy and Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba, where she helps clients continue hearty engagement within the ever rolling waves of life.

Tricia Dyck

Tricia Dyck is a curator, collections manager, art historian and fine arts professional. Her passion for arts and culture generates a drive to excite others to engage with important texts and visual objects. Throughout her personal and professional life, she’s recognized the significance of Museums and their role as sites of cultural knowledge. Tricia was recently honoured with the University of Winnipeg Graduate Studies Scholarship from the University of Winnipeg, which she received for her strong commitment to community engagement and academic excellence. While attending the University of Winnipeg, she obtained a Masters of Arts in Cultural Studies and Curatorial Practice which motivates and informs her professional work. Ever interested in numerous topics of research, she has spent many months delving into her own Mennonite family history and recently, created an art installation that was directly linked to her agrarian ancestry. Tricia currently holds the position as curator for the Manitoba Agricultural Museum where she works with the museum’s extensive collections of artifacts, organizes cultural events, and collaborates with the organization’s many volunteers and supporters.
