Gabrielle Welch
Student
I’m Gabrielle Welch and I will be presenting a speech exploring the problematic relationship between humanity and the natural world.
This issue peaked by interest after a volunteer experience in which I worked at a wildlife centre alongside conservationists who taught me the dangers of wildlife tourism. Ever since, I've harboured a critical view towards the human systems that seek to manage and control animal life, a perspective that inspired my talk.
Whether treating animals as pets or playthings, food, or entertainment, our kind has lost touch with the inherent value of animal life, opposed to their ability to benefit our needs. In my talk, I seek to challenge the audience to reevaluate their perception and think critically about solutions for how to establish a healthier relationship with animal life.

Paige Barnett
Student
My name is Paige, I come from Sydney, Australia and I've been at AISB for one year. My speech is about the demonization of femininity in Hollywood and real life. It's about the way that girly women are treated online and in the real life. I choose this topic because I am incredibly passionate about gender stereotypes and equality. It's an issue that I have come across in my life and writing this speech really helped me to be more aware. I want to share my thoughts in hopes that other people will have the same understanding that I did about stereotypes. I see so many young girls on the internet who are very unaware of this issue. I want to share my message and educate others in hopes to help people to overcome their ideas about feminine women.
