TED has given us the opportunity offer a free viewing via live HD stream of a full-day line-up (sessions 4 - 7) of this year's TED speakers.
Speakers at TED events - some of the world’s most fascinating, innovative and influential individuals - are challenged to give “the talk of their life” in 18 minutes or less. Attendees are as exceptional as the speakers. Sharing happens from the stage or in the lounge. It’s the conversation that will change your life. TEDx is a new extension initiative of the TED organization.
What is FULL SPECTRUM?
We're in the midst of a dramatic reinvention of the ancient art of the spoken word. The surprising spread of talks online and the explosion of TEDx events around the globe are testament to that. At TED2012 we plan to celebrate this phenomenon and nudge it a further step forward. Full Spectrum is a term we've adapted to mean the rich use of multiple technologies, formats and approaches for the most powerful possible impact on an audience.
What is TED?
TED is an annual event where some of the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. “TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. Attendees have called it “the ultimate brain spa” and “a four-day journey into the future.” The diverse audience — CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists — is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono.
The EVENT:
On Wednesday, February the 29th, you will have the rare opportunity to share the experience of TED, by viewing a stream full day of the TED 2012: Full Spectrum speaker line-up (please plan on attending at least two sessions)
TEDx Sacramento was formed as an extension of the TEDx program, licensed by TED. We will be holding a number of events in 2012, including a live stream of the main TED conference in February at the historic Guild Theater, a number of more intimate "TEDx Salon" events and--of course--our main TEDx Sacramento 2012 event August 30th at the Crocker Art Museum. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxSacramento, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxSacramento event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
