Ailsa McKeon
Ailsa is originally from Brisbane, Australia, but now lives in London. Professionally, Ailsa is a barrister with a primarily criminal law practice, but she has always been an active individual. She began Highland dancing at the age of 6 and started her competitive career at the age of 9. She competed at the highest (championship) level of competition for 13 years from the age of 14, and during that time, performed in both shows and competitions across Australia and in New Zealand, Canada, the USA, and Scotland (including at two world championships). She retired from competition in 2017. While living for a year in the Turks and Caicos Islands, she started CrossFit; she is now a competitive CrossFit athlete and Level 1 coach.
Florence Wilcock
Florence is a consultant obstetrician working in NHS maternity services and specialises in improving women’s experience of maternity care and working with midwives to support women with personalised birth preferences. Florence is also a lead obstetrician for perinatal mental health, has a joint clinic with perinatal mental health colleagues and a member of her local Maternity Voice Partnership.
As a member of the London Maternity Clinical Network. Florence was responsible for bringing the innovative ‘Whose Shoes’ developed by Gill Phillips to Maternity, and running a series of these workshops piloted across London in 2014. As a result she co-founded #MatExp with Gill Phillips; a grassroots movement of women, families and staff caring for them working together to improve maternity services. Florence also produces the podcast TheObsPod to demystify obstetrics and help both maternity staff and families going through maternity care understand a bit more about the role of the obstetrician.

Hannah Kirkbride
Hannah is founder and CEO of Career Matters, a social enterprise established to improve access to education, employment and training for all and committed to diversity and inclusion and enabling access to those most removed from traditional pathways into education and employment. Hannah has twenty years’ experience both as a career, skills and apprenticeship practitioner delivering high quality information, advice and guidance support and as a senior leader delivering education, employment, training, skill and career development services. Currently leading the national roll out of the Lived Experience Charter commissioned by NHS England to design.

Ian Tyrrell
Ian is a physiotherapist from the University of Central Lancashire. He has worked across a number of Trusts and specialities before joining University Hospital of North Midlands as an Advanced Physiotherapist in emergency medicine and frailty. Ian is passionate about improving the care of older people, currently working as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in frailty and is completing his masters in Advanced Clinical Practice. He has recently created the podcast ‘The Long Lie’ which focuses on improving the care of older people that attend Emergency Departments.

Jenny is a lead psychiatric occupational therapist and an award-nominated mental health advocate, with extensive experience within the criminal justice sector. Her main areas of focus are workplace wellbeing, mental health and neurodiversity. Also passionate about productivity, Jenny uses her career platform SASA to encourage personal development via accessible resources. Jenny has made it her mission to share her knowledge as explored through facilitating workshops, podcasting and numerous other public speaking engagements across the world. She is invested in supporting the wellbeing of others and her credits include Cosmopolitan, The Independent, Metro and Refinery29.

Jenny Vaughan
Jenny is a consultant neurologist and is a leading campaigner for reforming the law on gross negligence manslaughter when applied to those working in healthcare. She is co-lead for the ‘Learn not Blame’ campaign at the Doctors’ Association UK (DAUK), a voluntary frontline lobbying organisation for doctors. She is also an executive member of the Harmed Patients Alliance and is a current council member of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) and the Medical Women’s Federation (MWF). Jenny has campaigned to tackle discrimination in the NHS and Independent Healthcare sector, for which she has been recognised by both British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin and British International Doctor’s Association.

Khadija Owusu
Khadija is an award-winning Leader, Speaker and Junior Doctor. She is the Founder of The Like Her Project (Ghana), Director of Programmes at Melanin Medics, an Ambassador at the GUBA-Enterprise and a Trustee for the charity Raising Futures Kenya. Khadija is a change agent, and a voice for Black and Ethnic minority aspiring medics, medical students and doctors as she works to tackle issues on equality, diversity, and inclusion. She also has special interests in female empowerment and global health. She has been a guest of Michelle Obama at the White House; won the Women in STEM Award by HRH Princess Ann. In addition to this, she has spoken at various national and international conferences, is selected as a 2021 Diana Award Recipient and Top 5 UK Black Student, 2020 Rising Star in Healthcare, and has been featured on BBC, ITV and Channel 5 News.

Leanna Luxton
Leanna is the Community Stroke Team Lead for Northamptonshire and the Programme Manager for the NHS England Stroke Rehabilitation Pilot Programme. Over the last 15 years, Leanna has worked as a physiotherapist in large teaching hospitals, specialising in stroke rehabilitation. Her interests include developing true patient-centred care and provision, service development and leading large-scale complex change projects, role-modelling leading with compassion and collaboration, and she is an active co-chair of the Northampton General Hospital Race, Equality and Cultural Heritage Network.

Nakul Patel
Nakul is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon based at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. He specialises in major reconstructive surgery, breast reconstruction, skin cancer and cosmetic surgery. He is also a Trustee for LOROS hospice which supports terminally ill patients. Nakul is passionate about innovation in the medical field and being at the forefront of new techniques, materials and technologies that improve patient care. He is the author of two medical textbooks and three book chapters. His enthusiasm has led him to be the Co-Lead for Innovation for the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), as well as a NHS Clinical Entrepreneur with NHS England, gaining numerous prizes for research papers and innovations.

Nathan Hudson-Peacock
Nathan is an emergency medicine doctor, expedition doctor and climate advocate. In 2019, Nathan embarked on a prolonged expedition to a remote part of the Himalayas, where he saw the real world impacts of the climate crisis on those who are contributing the least to environmental damage. His expedition medicine interests now focus on supporting ecological and environmental research groups and he has developed a passion for sustainable healthcare, founding the non-profit organisation, Eco Medics. Nathan is a firm believer that healthcare professionals have a moral and professional duty to be leading voices and pioneers in the global response to the climate crisis, and believes that the healthcare industry as a whole has the power to catalyse the societal shifts that need to happen if there is to be any hope of halting this environmental, social and health catastrophe.

Nirja Joshi
As a practising GP, Nirja has brought her love of dance into medicine by introducing 10 minute dance sessions into the workplace. Through the pandemic she worked with the RCGP to produce a 10 minute dance fitness video to help to lift spirits for primary care staff in the UK and ensure they could get moving whilst isolating and often seeing their patients in silo. Nirja runs dance classes locally, and teaches different styles including dance fitness and Bollywood. Nirja has also co-founded The WorkWell Doctors who focus on improving workplace wellbeing for NHS staff and volunteers for a charity 'Duty to Care' who provide free therapy for NHS staff.

Romalyn Ante
Romalyn is a Filipino-British, Wolverhampton-based poet, editor, and author. She is co-founding editor of harana poetry, a magazine for poets who write in English as a second or parallel language, and founder of Tsaá with Roma, an online interview series with poets and other creatives. Her debut collection is Antiemetic for Homesickness (Chatto & Windus). She was recently awarded the Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowship 2021/22. Apart from being a writer, she also works full-time as a nurse practitioner, specializing in providing different psychotherapeutic treatments.

Yvonne Newbold
Yvonne MBE is the founder of Newbold Hope, a parent-led organisation which enables parents and professionals to develop the knowledge, skills, strategies and confidence to reduce anxiety-led difficult and dangerous behaviour in children with a disability or an additional need. Newbold Hope is inspired by Yvonne’s son, Toby, who has multiple disabilities and complex needs as well as a history of violent and challenging behaviour. Newbold Hope has developed from Yvonne’s “Bucket List”. On the day she was diagnosed with Stage 4 bilateral breast cancer with a very poor prognosis, she knew that there was one thing she’d like to do in whatever time she had left – to improve the quality of life for the next generation of children with disabilities and additional needs, as well as for their families.
