Theme: Future is Here

The future is always created on uneven foundations. In order to understand how we can create futures that do not exclude, isolate, or exploit, we have to understand how the future is written in the present. More specifically, we are interested in how minority elements are, in this moment, unequally distributed; how these inequalities are likely to be reproduced or altered in the future; and how these inequalities may actually determine the future or futures at which we arrive. Through exploring how existing differences create unequal futures, we can begin to understand how to look forward in a way that is beneficial to those who are often excluded from mainstream narratives of change.

Ashok Kumar was born and brought up in a small village, Kurana, of district Panipat in Haryana. He received his primary education from the village Government school and did his B.Tech (1986) and M.Tech (1988) from IIT Delhi. He joined the Indian Police Service in 1989 and served in various challenging assignments in the state of UP and Uttarakhand. He was posted in Allahabad and Aligarh as ASP. After that as SP/SSP he was posted in various districts like Rudrpur, Chamoli, Haridwar, Shahjahanpur, Mainpuri, Baghpat, Nainital, Rampur, Mathura and Haridwar. He was instrumental in eliminating Terrorism from Tarai Region of Kumaun in the year 1993-94. He held the portfolio of IG Garhwal and IG Kumaun. where he worked towards humane and victim oriented policing. He also served as Chief of Intelligence and Security, ADG (Administration), and ADG Crime, Law & Order Uttarakhand. During his tenure as Director Vigilance Uttarakhand he started a major drive against corruption.
