Ananditha Sunil

Student
Ananditha is the Student President of Wellbeing at NMS and is the Head of the NMS WOW! 101 wellbeing collective. Also donning the hat of an avid debater and MUNer, she has won the Best Speaker Award at Gulf Debates 2019 and has participated in prestigious events such as the Harvard Model UN 2020.

Ashi Karun

Entrepreneur
Ashi, 21, is the founder and CEO of Dude Just Dude, Events by DJD and 3 other startups. When she’s not building a startup from the ground up, you can find Ashi investing her time into projects that embody an entrepreneurial spirit that began during her high school years. In addition to making her mark on the creative economy sector, she is simultaneously pursuing her degree in business and has a strong passion for all things technology. In the near future, she hopes to have her companies running successfully across the world, while working on her personal interests which includes everything from Music to Magic.

Fatima AlKaabi

STEM Inventor + Computer Engineering Student
Recognized as the Youngest Emirati Inventor in 2015, Fatima has had a passion for creativity and innovation since she was seven years old. With the support of her government, she was able to create 12 inventions that focus on solving issues found around her community. For more than four years, Fatima has been making positive contributions to the community of the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East by creating social platforms around innovation and creativity. Through volunteer tutoring and workshops, she has shared her passion for and knowledge of the sciences to more than 3000 students across her region. In 2016, Fatima obtained an internationally accredited certification for peer-to-peer training and counseling. Fatima is currently a rising senior college student majoring in computer engineering at Virginia Tech in the United States of America.

Jouhayna AlMheiri

Air Traffic Control Officer
Worldwide only 1% of the applicants that apply to an Air Traffic Control Program successfully make it through the selection process and for female applicants that averages down to 0.2%. Jouhayna is produ to be among the 0.2% making her the youngest and only the second Emirati woman to successfully complete Air Traffic Control Training in the Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Center in Abu Dhabi. She is working hard to pave the way for the next generation.

Michael Guzder

Vice President, GEMS Education
Joining us in our third edition of Tedx at NMS is our highly anticipated speaker, Mr. Michael Guzder – Vice President GEMS Education. He has played a seminal role in mentoring GEMS Indian schools in improving their Educational and co-curricular standards thus delivering quality education to thousands of pupils. With over 40 years in the field of Education, Mr. Guzder is passionate about all forms of Public speaking, Dramatics, Music, Reading and Writing.

Parvathi Renjith

Student
Parvathi, 17, is an active young leader who believes in self-learning and contributing to her surrounding world at every opportunity. An active member of the NMS Student Council, she was awarded Best Summer Club Facilitator, represented NMS at the GEMS Global Innovation Challenge and was CBSE grade 10 school topper (Rank 3).

Philip Thompson

Corporate Head of Inclusion, GEMS Education
Mr. Philip leads the overall development, implementation and strategy for Inclusion across GEMS Schools in the UAE. He has worked in Education for 19 years in a variety of roles and establishments. Philip has a passion for working in partnership with others to ensure students and families are supported throughout their education journey. His personal mission is to ensure ‘the right education at the right time for children’. In the UK, Philip led a local government authority for Special Educational Needs (SEN) serving a population of over 150,000 people. Notable achievements included leading on initiatives to open new SEN schools and creating and improving SEN provision across different education settings. In his personal time, Philip volunteers as a Chair of Governors for a Multi Academy Trust in the UK and is also a Governor for Inclusion at schools in the UAE.

Poornima Shyam

Professional Bharatanatyam Dancer
Poornima Shyam is a professional Bharatanatyam dancer. She has choreographed and performed in countless solo recitals and dance drama productions. With a total teaching experience of close to 20 years, Poornima is a true inspiration to fellow dancers and performers.

Shagun Srivastava

Student
Shagun is a 17-year old student at GNMS. As an ardent feminist, she has a passion for debating about all things equality and empowerment. The definition of ‘beautiful’ has changed significantly in recent decades. With the spread of social media, beauty standards all over the world have become westernised and highly exclusive. Being imperfect and proud is no longer a choice. How does this impact younger generations? How can we redefine beauty standards in the modern world?
