In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Arthur Thielke

Arthur is an avid gym junkie who spend a lot of time at the gym. He also takes advantage of the surf in Cape Town and spends a lot of time surfing in Llandudno.

Arthur is 17 years old and is in Grade 11. He is originally from Germany, Hamburg. He has lived in Tanzania and now currently lives in Cape Town with his mom and sister. Arthur believes that public speaking is a key skill for future endeavours and would like to improve on his public speaking skills by participating in TEDx talks.

Eli Abreu

Eli is interested in debating and is keen to study to become a doctor the future. He has down a job shadowing at hospitals in Cape Town and East London.

Eli is 16 and is in Grade 10. He moved to Cape Town from Johannesburg and Cape Town is now his home.

Ginevra Lonardi

Ginevra is currently a student and is interested in law and human rights.

Ginevra is 15 years old and is in grade 9 at the American International School of Cape Town. She is interested in being a lawyer one day and believes that TEDx and public speaker can help build her confidence in her research and presentation skills.

Kieran Urquhart

Kieran is a keen sportsman and enjoys playing golf, soccer and surfs. He is very passionate his sport and hopes to pursue this professionally in the furture.

Kieran is 17 and is in Grade 11. He was born in South African and attends the American International School of Cape Town.

Liwonga Mahlawe

A passionate performer and film maker. Interested in cultural identity and the African diaspora and how the values and principles of our ancestors are relevant just as much today as they just as relevant today as they were in the past.

Liwonga is a 15 year old South African student, who has had a very eventful educational history having previously having studied in Los Angeles and New Jersey in the United States of America. Liwonga hopes to be an actor and film maker one day. She is taking part in TEDx event as she believes she has something to say and would like to use this platform to be heard.

Romijn van der A

Romijn is a very keen surfer and spends a lot fo his time surfing in Llandudno. He also enjoys skateboarding and loves animals,

Romijn is in grade 12 and is originally from Holland, Nijmegen. He is interested in studying international business in Holland next year.

Roselyn Chingandu

Roselyn is in Grade 12 and is passionate about human rights. She is a ember of the Black, Brown Students Association and is an advocate for equity and justice for those who have been marginalised. Roselyn hopes to be a lawyer one day.

Roselyn is in Grade 12 and is originally from Zimbabwe. She now lives in Cape Town with her family.
