TEDxSurabayaSalon: SUB-STORY offers a short Saturday getaway of bustling Surabaya City through a two-hours historical walking tour with the guide of Roode Brug Soerabaia, a non-profit community focusing on history education, history research, and historical reenactment, especially of the Revolution Era from 1945-1949.
The meeting point of this walk is in the most important monument built in commemoration of the heroes of the Battle of Surabaya, the Tugu Pahlawan. Then, we will go to a Bank Mandiri Building on Kebon Rojo Street, followed by a visit to Graha Pelni, a great building of national cargo and passenger shipping company of Indonesia. The walk will continue on to the Governer’s Office of East Java and Alun-alun Contong. Both of these buildings hold special historic events such as battles in Surabaya. The final stop will be the office of PLN of North Surabaya, formerly known as Sekolah Radio, where the famous Pramoedya Ananta Toer and Des Alwi studied at. Walk with us and Roode Brug Soerabaia to find out more about the history of Surabaya!
