“It’s this perspective of us as humans to look at our world through the lens of ‘normal’ [that] is one of the forces that stops us developing real solutions.” — Justin Hall-Tipping (Freeing Energy from the Grid, TED Conference)
Mavericks, Rebels, Rivals, Contrary, Antithesis, Non-Conformist. TEDxSFU 2012 explores the theme, “Against the Grain”. How does doing something out of the ordinary lead to revolution? We are inviting speakers to tell us their stories of standing up, and standing out. The stories, not more than 18 minutes in length, will facilitate dialogue, open up new realms of thought and continue to spread ideas in the community.
The TEDxSFU 2012 attendees will be a veritable collection of open-minded, creative and forward-thinking individuals. They will include students, alumni, staff and faculty members from SFU, as well as artists, activists, business professionals and changemakers from the wider community.
TEDxSFU is an independently-organized local group comprised of passionate student and alumni volunteers at Simon Fraser University who are dedicated to ideas worth spreading. TEDxSFU is held in Vancouver, BC and licensed by TED.
