Basu Nupur
An award winning Senior Journalist and Documentary Filmmaker
Nupur has reported and filmed from India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Uganda, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. She was formerly Senior Editor with New Delhi Television (NDTV) where she started with reporting for their flagship program - The World This Week. She started her journalistic career in the leading daily Indian Express and later wrote extensively for several publications like India Abroad, The Hindu, and the media watch website The Hoot.
Nupur directed several independent documentary films which include Michael Jackson Comes to Manikganj, Lost Generations, No Country for Young Girls, Dry Days in Dobbagunta, Mothers of Mallapuram, and Velvet Revolution.
In 2010 Nupur visited the Graduate School of Journalism at UC Berkeley as a faculty for the course “Reporting on India”.She lectures frequently on the media at journalism colleges. Nupur also serves on various media and rights-related boards and is passionate about environmental protection.
Dr. Lakshmi Rangarajan
Passionate Educator
Lakshmi Rangarajan is an optimist with tremendous faith in human innovation and ingenuity. She has a passion for teaching. Her willingness to learn and experiment with new ideas of study have proven great assets for her as far as educational and teaching career is concerned.
She has a PHD. In Economics, Master’s degree in Economics, Diploma in operation research , University Grant Commission-Senior Research Fellow 1993-August 1996 and Junior Research Fellow 1991 –August 1993.
She has been a faculty of Business Economics at the London School of Economics, the Quincy College, Boston and at various well-known Institutions in India.
Few of her publications from collections are: ‘European Monetary System” published in Journal of Foreign Exchange and International finance (April 1992) , “Regionalism and Multilateralism : Can they coexist in the present world trading system?” published in “ Journal of Arts”(1998) and many others.
Marwaha Puja
Chief Executive Officer, CRY (Child Rights and You)
After an education in liberal arts and Human Resources development, and a short stint in the corporate sector, Puja joined CRY (Child Rights and You) in 1994 to set up the organization's Human Resources function. Today, she is the CEO of CRY. Puja's belief that children should be at the heart of all human development work informs her interest and involvement in children and their potential. She's nurtured a large number of organizations and people, enabling them to connect their individual beliefs to the larger vision of rights for all children.
She also serves on the board for VANI (Voluntary Action Network India) to strengthen public mobilization for social causes.
Puja believes that justice and equity are non-negotiable, that investment in children is the only way to achieve sustainable growth. A lover of good food, books, cats, and travel and a lifelong advocate of authenticity, Puja’s motto in life is “Be Yourself. Everyone else is already taken”
Ms. Diya Garg
Student, Financial Literacy Evangelist, Author
Diya likes to explore both her analytical and artistic skills to make a difference. From a very young age, she has created artwork that explores her critical thinking and creativity. She has a penchant for math and loves to learn about the world’s economy. Diya is in the process of publishing a graphic novel, “Maya Makes Money”, an inspiring story that teaches children about entrepreneurship and financial literacy. Her interest in the financial world inspired her to start “Know Your Money”, an organization that spreads financial literacy skills to the youth through insightful posts and articles on their blog and Instagram.
As a class 11th student at The International School Bangalore, she has excelled in her academics. She has demonstrated leadership skills by being the President of the Maths club and has been involved in organizing and compering community programs.
She is a keen learner, an avid blogger, a book lover, and likes to share her knowledge with others.
