This event occurred on
February 28, 2022
Richmond Hill, Ontario

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

What is 'Gifted Kid Burnout'? This internet term, which has amassed over 152 million views on TikTok, describes someone once labelled as intelligent in their youth but now struggles with underachievement. While it is usually joked around in a self-deprecating Generation Z sense of humour, it encapsulates society's failure to nurture gifted students. The rising popularity of 'Gifted Kid Burnouts' begs the question: why are gifted children - society's supposedly brightest minds - prone to burning out? As someone who grew up in both a gifted and non-gifted environment, I will be sharing my insight with the program and the causes of gifted burnout.

Stuttering through speeches, sleeping through check-in, and getting destroyed by pros isn't fun. High school competitive debate is one of the most challenging extracurriculars for students. With such a steep learning curve, it can take years before one starts winning on the circuit. It can be demoralizing early on, but RHHS Debate Club President Alex Zhu is here to tell you why you should stick with high school debate even if you initially struggle. Join Alex as he tells his debate circuit tales and reflections that have made the activity worth every second.

My name is Laasya. Regardless of what our names are, we all have struggled with finding "meaning" in life, to achieve self-fulfillment and self-actualization. What does this mean? Do we actually need to find "meaning" in life? Living a happy, satisfied life may seem unrealistic but bare with me as I explore how to do so in my TED-Talk!
