Theme: Sustainable societies

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxZazilHa, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxZazilHa event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Angela Frances Warrior

Angela Francess Warrior is a marine biologist from the UK. She work's in marine conservation with a specialty in shark conservation and education. Angela has been part of so many amazing projects all around the world, like Save our Seas Shark Education Centre in Cape Town, South Africa where she was hired to design an intern program for local and international students. As part of the project, she worked with 12 students from the poorest and underprivileged areas in South Africa to guide them in the process of becoming ocean stewards, by making the ocean experience more accessible for them. This experience was the catalyst for her determination to make marine education more accessible for children, especially as they will be responsible for helping to rectify the damage that we have done, that is why she created We Love the Sea, a Marine Biology School for children currently located in La Riviera Maya, México.

Cassandra Montaudon

Cassandra Montaudon is the Creative Director of Development of “Tierras Nativas”, an integrative community development where social and natural systems become one. As a native to the coast, her relationship with nature and sustainability has been geared around the reef and marine mammal conservation. In this pursuit, she acquired a lifestyle that renders interacts with oceanic conservation, land, and agriculture restoration practices. With a psychology degree and affinity with nature, she was fated to fuse the two. A couple of years ago, she embarked on an investigation around hemp as an alternative to plastics. It was in seeking solutions that she discovered a variety of ecological solutions to many of the world's commercial and social problems. Cassandra dove into living in an off-grid community in Costa Rica as a personal experiment that transformed her relationship with people, the planet, and herself. The last three years have led her to better understand the power of social dynamics and common traits across successful communities. It is through community development that Cassandra proposes to integrate many of these resources.

Han Young-Jun

Han Young-Jung is the CEO of NGO Cointree and author of the book"Unconditionally Happy, currently building and operating multiple schools and libraries in Bolivia, Sri Lanka, and Mexico.

Javier Resendiz Fernandez de Lara

Javier Resendiz Fernandez de Lara created a cycling community in Playa del Carmen called La Bicineta. With it, he has been promoting bicycle use from an urban perspective, encouraging people to consider bicycles as a vehicle, lifestyle, and social tool. Javier has organized more than 300-night rides and school talks from elementary to university and he has have been collaborating with local governments, local associations, businesses, cultural and recreational events to spread the word about biking culture. Javier has made three long-distance bicycle journeys: 1st.- 1,500kms / 2 weeks / Playa del Carmen - Tikal - Playa del Carmen 2nd.- 7,000 kms / 4 months / Madrid - Copenhague - Madrid 3rd.- 4,500 kms / 4 months / Tijuana - Playa del Carmen

Luis Alberto Martin del Campo

Luis Martin del Campo is a speaker, consultant, entrepreneur, and author specializing in Regenerative Cultures, human development, and clean technology. Looking for ways that people can live in synergy with the planet, to make the world work for 100% of life is his calling in life. Luis Martin is also a professor of Systems Thinking and Systemic Project Implementation at Universidad del Medio Ambiente. Have trained over 9,000 people in 12 countries through my company, Kala Education. Projects in which Luis Martin has participated in the past: Regenerative Reboot - building collaborative business ecosystems toward regeneration in Mexico and Latin America. Benefitted over 130 women leaders directly and will impact over 2,500 at-risk women beneficiaries. Sargasso-and-waste-to-energy projects. - worked for 2 years to propose and implement sargasso-processing plants to make energy pellets and other products, with experience dealing with govt and business challenges. Kala Education - Regenerative Entrepreneurship and Innovation Laboratory - trained dozens of young entrepreneurs with skills to build new, regenerative businesses. Sporah - coffee-to-protein project in Mexico to build a social franchise that turns coffee waste into food, jobs, and opportunities. Worked with Starbucks and FEMSA. Intelligent World Organism - AI and blockchain-based solution to build a global network of smart, regenerative cities to help transition to a global regenerative economy. Awards: 2016 Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative Professional Fellowship by the Dept of State. 2019 YLAI Inspirando Catalizadores Fellowship 2021 Awarded as one of the 100 ASEM entrepreneurs of the Year. Have spoken internationally to audiences like the UN Global Compact; the Caux Dialogue con Land and Security; Misión Ecuador; El Salvador Emprende; and many others. Luis is a member of the Regenerative Communities Network. Omar Vazquez

Meet Omar Vazquez. After thirty years in California, this Jalisco native created the Blue-Green agricultural cooperative to fulfill his dreams back home here in Mexico. He now turns the dreaded sargassum into literally building blocks for constructing homes and dedicates his life to philanthropic endeavors as well as raising social and environmental awareness along the Caribbean beaches of Mexico.
