In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

David Denis

David Denis is a young entrepreneur and innovator in Arusha, Tanzania. At 23, he is the founder of Cutoff Recycle, an eco-venture that recycles human waste hair to produce fertilizers. Inspired by the community itself, David wants to provide employment to people across Africa through his venture and ignite an entrepreneurship spirit amongst young Africans. David reads books, listens to African music and loves science and technology.

Denis Minja

During his 15 years of developing mobile apps in Tanzania, Denis has created countless apps over a vast array of industries and has trained over 80 people in mobile app development. Denis empathizes with the huge gap between the youth and the in-demand skills required in today's workplace; along with his team, he plays his part in transferring mobile app development expertise as a modern skill that impacts the lives of youth regardless of the career path they choose to take. Denis hopes that he can develop a passion for learning and sharing opportunities not just with those in his circle, but with every student he has the pleasure of teaching. His dream is to see a Tanzania where digital skills are a basic skill and not a luxury kept from the ordinary child.

Einoth Justine

Einoth Justine is an experienced mentor working with Girls Livelihood And Mentorship Initiative (GLAMI) in Arusha, mentoring secondary school girls to complete their education, transform their lives and the lives of their communities. She is passionate about Tanzanian literature, an activist for children and youth and the founder of Help Them Write Initiative which focuses on building a reading and writing society.

Elisante Ephraim

As a young visionary leader, Elisante Ephraim serves as the Executive Director of Builders Of Future Africa, which he began in September 2014, and formerly served as a President of the BHA (Children’s support foundation) in the year of 2016/2017. He is the head of finance at the PLO Lumumba Foundation Tanzania and is a CSO consultant. He also served as CEO & Director General at Africamoja Youth Society, which he assumed early January 2019. Before his appointment, Elisante was Director-General, leading all Africamoja activities in Tanzania.

Eliwilimina Buberwa

Eliwilimina Buberwa is a youth activist aged 23 years, a founder and Executive Director at Msichana Imara foundation, a NGO which aims to address challenges that hinders girls' rights to Education. She is currently leading a project known as #mypadmyfreedom which teaches young girls in rural areas to make their own reusable sanitary pads using local materials in their environment. Despite being a teacher by profession, she is also an ambassador at World Literacy Foundation, a global organization that strives to ensure that every young individual regardless of geographic location has the opportunity to acquire literacy skills to reach their fullest potential, succeed at school and beyond. She is also a champion of gender equality, through a global campaign known as #IamBeijing+25 where she advocates for girl's rights in education and leadership.

Emmyrose Rugumamu

Emmyrose Rugumamu works as a communication officer in a non-profit organization and a full-time digital content creator (photographer, videographer & editor). She holds a Bachelor's degree of Arts in Communication (electronic media). Her ultimate goal in life is to impact and tell stories for women, by women through digital content. In addition, she is the outgoing Chairperson of the Tanzanian Students Association of Kenya (TASAKE, 2019-2021). She has also worked as a TV (Clouds Plus & Tv1 Tanzania) & Radio presenter (Shine FM & Radio5). Three words that describe her best are audacious, creative, and passionate.

Masuma Shariff

Going into a technological field, Masuma has an interest in the importance of learning basic computer skills and empowering young women to find their interests. She also has an interest in art and public speaking, having given a few talks at her high school. Having noticed the way technology can change people’s outlook, Masuma wishes to show how technology can empower women and has positively affected her life too.

Michael Pallanore

Michael Pallanore is a graduate in Management of Information Systems and he is also accredited in full-stack development and psychology in design. For the past seven years he has worked with various businesses, institutions and interest groups by defining operational processes and driving the launch, development and adoption of end to end IT solutions with a focus on enhanced reporting and data analysis. He is hopeful that he can use his creative curiosity and knack for translating high-tech ideas into new ways to create impact. Outside of work, Michael enjoys reading about various topics which may pique his interest, hiking on scenic nature trails and listening to various genres of music.
