In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

From a young age, Amy Meek and her younger sister Ella saw how making an issue clear and understandable brings people together, and turns shared emotion into positive change. It's a concept that laid the foundation for the beginning of their environmental charity Kids Against Plastic, through which they break down the issue of plastic pollution into an understandable and actionable problem for young people. Yet, when we look at the greatest threat to our planet currently, the climate crisis, the clarity of messaging isn't there. While the impacts of the changing climate are clear, language around climate change is often technical and confusing, resulting in disempowerment and a frighteningly slow pace of action. Through her presentation, she shares her experience of working with young people through Kids Against Plastic, and how kids empowered with the skills and tools they need to believe their voices matter can have the power to bring about large positive change.
