Theme: Through a new lens

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Hafsah Shaik

Student

Hafsah Shaik is an undergraduate student at The College of New Jersey, pursuing a degree in Psychology with a specialization in Biopsychology. Hafsah is inquisitive and eager to learn, and her earnest curiosity has driven her to explore courses across fields, from computer science to philosophy to communications. Hafsah also has a personal commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I), which manifests through her roles as the Vice President of DE&I within TCNJ’s Student Government and as a DE&I intern within TCNJ’s Psychology Department. Although Hafsah is dedicated to lifelong learning and satisfying her appetite for cross-disciplinary knowledge, she has found her main passions in data science and cognitive neuroscience. After graduating from TCNJ this spring, Hafsah wishes to attend graduate school to continue studying computational methods within psychology, explore all life has to offer, find inspiration while inspiring others, and change the world in her own unique way.

Jill Sitnick

In her 26-year career in educational technology, Jill Sitnick has been an educator, Supervisor of Instructional Technology, and a Microsoft Program Manager and Education Executive. At her core, she is a teacher known for her ability to simplify complex issues using storytelling to connect people to new ideas. Most recently she is the author of Rescuing Jill, How MDMA, with a Dash of Magic Mushrooms, Healed my Childhood Trauma-Induced PTSD. Jill shared her experience with PTSD to explain her healing with psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. She is a strong advocate for more research into psychedelics for mental health issues in the hopes of giving more people the opportunity to heal. Jill lives in Pennsylvania with her clingy dog who keeps the house safe from a litany of sketchy squirrels.

Rowena Winkler

Women's Empowerment Coach, Conscious Entrepreneur, & Higher Ed Consultant

Dr. Rowena Winkler coaches women who are intrigued by the spiritual and are motivated to get unstuck and make a change. Using her Ph.D. in Communication, along with modalities such as astrology, human design, & tarot, Dr. Winkler expertly guides her clients to own their magic in the marketplace, whether that is through building confidence or building a brand.

Sadhvi Mohankumar

Student Activist

Sadhvi Mohankumar is a junior undergraduate student at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) pursuing a biology major with a concentration in social justice. She joined Amnesty International, a human rights organization, at 14 years of age and currently serves as the president for TCNJ's chapter of Amnesty International. As a student activist, she is passionate about raising awareness about various human rights abuses by organizing letter writing campaigns, petitions, protests, and fundraisers. Her advocacy work not only focuses on her community members, but also supports both national and international issues such as assisting with Syrian and Afghanistan refugee relocations. She hopes to continue championing human rights after graduating college specifically by working to address healthcare disparities among minority and underserved communities.

Tabitha Dell'Angelo

Dr. Tabitha Dell’Angelo received a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies in Human Development from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, USA and a B.S. in Special Education from Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, USA. She has published in a wide variety of books and journals on topics ranging from educational policy, teacher retention, and arts based strategies and research. For many years, she has incorporated play into learning via improvisational acting to support community education programs, bullying prevention, social skills, and adult learners. As a teacher by profession and an artist at heart, she has always been an advocate for supporting positive coping skills, social emotional wellness, and building joyful learning spaces through creativity and play.

Waheeda Lillevik

Professor, educator and researcher, focusing on cultural identity, uniqueness, individual difference and how this enhances organizations.

Dr. Lillevik has a Doctorate in Human Resources Management, and has been a professor at The College of New Jersey for 15 years. She has worked in Canada, the US, the UK and Germany, as a Human Resource Management Specialist, focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion, cultural learning, leadership, and the holistic and authentic self as sources of strength in the workplace. Her research interests involve cross-cultural management, inclusion and acculturation, with a strong focus on empowering and celebrating the holistic self within the organization, through systematic human resources mechanisms.
