TEDxYouth@AISG is a local, independently organized TEDxYouth event that aims to spark deep and connected discussions on the issues that impact society today. The first annual TEDxYouth@AISG strives to provide a platform for young thinkers and creators to question the world around us. This year’s theme, Re-Connect, serves to enrich our community with vast perspectives that define what it mean to reconnect with who we are, the others around us, and the world around us.

In a time where our world has been continuously plagued with global uncertainty and turmoil, the need to reconnect with ourselves, our family and friends, and our community remains at the forefront in regaining a sense of normalcy again. Our theme aims to find powerful stories that deal with our choice and journey to reconnect and will inspire next generations to come. Reconnect encompasses a broad range of explorations, whether it be reconnecting with our identity, the people around us, our community, our culture, our modernizing society, and our planet as a whole. TEDxYouth@AISG encourages all individuals with a story to share and a heart that dares to apply for our conference.

Eduardo Diaz

My name is Eduardo Diaz, I’m twelve years old, and this is my sixth month living in the beautiful city of Guangzhou, China. I was born in the US to Nicaraguan parents and have lived half of my life in Qatar. In my free time, I like playing soccer with friends and exploring the world in my flight simulator.

Eva Guo

As a child growing up with two frequently disappearing parents, I was a little confused. As I recall the conflicts between my parents and I, I realized that many of them can be solved with just a little more effort. So I decided to share my ideas as a teenager about how I feel and how I view this problem.

Hannah Pate

My name is Hannah Li Pate and I am a sophomore from the American International School of Guangzhou. I come from a multi-cultured family as my father is American and my mother is Chinese. Though I have lived in China for my whole life, I usually leave to stay in the states for a few months each year. My household is a mix of American and Chinese culture where I am exposed to diverse traditions.
