In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Mohammad Shams Aalam Shaikh

Gold Medalist, Indian Open Para-swimming Championship, 2018

Mohammad Shams Aalam Shaikh started his sports career as a karate player participating at multiple state-national events until 2010. But suddenly a benign tumor struck him & immobilized his lower half due to unsuccessful surgeries. But then he never gave up, he trained himself in swimming. Presently, Mr.Shams is an Indian Para swimmer winning four gold medals & a total of 15 medals at the Indian Open Para Swimming Championship in 2018 & a bronze medal at the 2016 Can-Am Para Swimming Championships. He also bagged the achievement of swimming through 8km at Candolim Beach, Goa in 4hrs. His inspiration awarded him the best-emerging leader in disability sports award, the role model state award for the empowerment of Persons with Disabilities & got interviewed by Kiran Rai for the 300 most influential people in Asia 2020.
