ADINA DEACU

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEUR

Adina Deacu is an Environmental Psychology Researcher and Consultant and a social entrepreneur. Her work in China focuses on the real-life applications of academic research, using the knowledge to design user-centric services and products. One of the results of her research was the foundation of Tianmei’s World Academy, a decentralized “network of classrooms” educational concept, with the mission to use environmental psychology knowledge to create high quality nurturing and inclusive learning environments beyond any geographical, cultural and economic barriers.

I'm thrilled to introduce Cherub Xingyu, a powerhouse of creativity and healing. She is an artist entrepreneur, composer, and American board-certified music therapist who utilizes the power of music, psychology and neuroscience to transform, communicate and heal. With a special interest in intergenerational and collective trauma, she has worked with people across the lifespan, helping them to find creative solutions to improve their lives on physical, psychological, and spiritual levels. Please welcome Cherub Xingyu, who will take us on a journey from survival to thrival through music

David has been a restless collector of experiences and degrees most of his life. With 4 master’s degrees in 3 different fields, he went from being a tax lawyer, to business consulting and working as CFO for L’Oréal Research & Innovation to becoming head of Mental Health & Wellbeing at YWIES/YCIS. Currently he is chief psychological counselor at ChingHo Clinic in Shanghai and a member of the British Psychological Society as well as the International Psychological Society. David has appeared many times on TV, Podcasts, Magazines, Radio and conferences he is also a passionate speaker about all psychology-related topics.This is his third time doing a TEDx speech.

Dr. Ashish Maskay is a Nepalese surgeon in Shanghai since last 19 years and works in the Department of Orthopedics and Sports medicine in Shanghai United Family Hospital. He is also the founder of Bloodline, a non-profit community-oriented charity that focuses on networking for a virtual blood bank responding to those in need of blood, organizing community blood drives and promoting public awareness. For his work with Bloodline and voluntary blood donations, he was awarded the 2019 Top Ten Public Welfare Stories Award, 2020 Shanghai Magnolia Memorial Award, "Great Experience Officer of Greater Hongqiao Area” 2021 title and 2022 Shanghai Magnolia Gold Award. He lives in Shanghai with his wife and daughter.

Shameen Prashantham is Professor of International Business & Strategy, and Associate Dean (MBA) at China Europe International Business School. He is author of “Gorillas can Dance”, a widely acclaimed book on corporate-startup partnering. He was a recipient of the 2022 CEIBS Research Excellence Award. Based on his research, he has found that startups increase their odds of succeeding when they have effective strategic partnerships.

Emily has worked in executive roles for some of the world’s best brands, like Starbucks and Apple. She joined the agency world three years ago as CEO, McCann Worldgroup China and is the incoming CEO for Wunderman Thompson West. More importantly, over the last two decades, her family has cared for 17 vulnerable or abused children in their spare room. Emily wrote a best-selling book about some of her experiences, and includes others’ stories, encouraging readers to uncover and live into their own social legacies. She speaks on some of the world’s biggest stages about intentional and authentic leadership; this will be her fifth Tedx talk.

Women Entrepreneur Magazine describes Janine Jakob as “a successful entrepreneur whose purpose is to foster a high performing and joyful workplace and make employees feel valued”. After a double Masters degree in Germany and China and while working for Fortune 500 company Hewlett-Packard for 7 years, she then quit her job. Without savings, Janine opened her own company in Shanghai providing coaching, training and consulting since 2018

Manoj is the CEO of naked Group, a startup turned a diverse lifestyle brand covering travel, work, and other lifestyle choices. Since joining naked in 2011, he has led several innovative initiatives, set up the strategic direction for the company, and expanded naked's China footprint. Manoj has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from The University of Chicago. Manoj serves on the board of several startups. and actively engages in the Shanghai community.
